<P><FONT color=#800080><EM><STRONG>Wow, what a response to my featured poem!&nbsp; I've never received so much praise about my poetry before now.&nbsp; My poor husband, bless his heart, has been telling me this for years, and as I relay my excitement about all the wonderful comments about my poetry that you all have given, he quietly said, "Maybe now you will believe me."&nbsp; Nearly broke my heart.&nbsp; It's not that I didn't believe him!&nbsp; But isn't a husband <U>supposed</U> to support his wife in her fancies and whimsies?&nbsp; How do I let him know that his opinion really has mattered as these years, after all, he's my muse...my heart and soul...my everything.</STRONG></EM></FONT></P> <P><STRONG><EM><FONT color=#800080>I don't know if I've mentioned it, some people know that I am a member of a Poetry Club where I live.&nbsp; We meet 9 months out of the year and take time off for summer vacation as the lady who teaches the "workshops" is also a high school teacher and she likes to have her summers totally off...even from poetry club...and who can blame her!&nbsp; But I don't think that is the <U>only</U> reason!&nbsp; The Club was started back when farmers wives got together for a monthly social gathering when they read poetry they wrote,&nbsp;and their summers were too busy with farming to meet. Anyway, I'm not sure where this was going!&nbsp; HA!&nbsp; Oh! Imagine my surpise, when I joined the Poetry Club 5 years ago, to find myself getting "lessons" from a past high school teacher!&nbsp; Yes, the Lady who does the poetry workshops and gives out the "homework" is my old high school English teacher!&nbsp; It's taken&nbsp;me 5 years, but I can finally call her Mary instead of Ms. Lauck!&nbsp; The sonnet I just posted was a creation from the poetry club "assignment".&nbsp; Sometimes that assignment is the only thing that gets me writing...it's hard finding time during the day when there isn't a priority for it.&nbsp; As much I love poetry, I wish I could sit all day and write it...but alas...the world calls and pulls me in umpteen other directions.&nbsp; Sure don't want to have to wait till I retire to get all that is waiting inside of me to be let out and fly in my poetry.</FONT></EM></STRONG></P> <P><STRONG><EM><FONT color=#800080>And trying to get things organized enough; to put together enough pieces to try to publish...and should I find a publisher or should I just try to publish it on my own?&nbsp; If I publish it on my own, how do I get it out there? Vince Suzadail Jr. Date: 10/7/2008 8:16:00 AM Look at your children's book, adjust if needed and see another publisher. Some publishers and writers are on ego trips with caustic remarks. If you think it's good, then ignore the negatives. A college student once did a busines plan for delivering packages within 24 hours. His professor called him a fool and belittled the plan as stupid. Michael Torres Date: 10/7/2008 12:52:00 AM Tru and your husband: It's ironic my sweaty told me the same thing. "Michael', she said "You always got to hear it from someone else before you believe me" I wonder why that is. We need to recognize our significant other as capable beings of intellect I suppose. It's not nice if we cant trust the opinion's of the ones that love us the most. I guess a nice card or box of chocolate is a nice way to console after the damage has been done.
