Some Feel Rain BY JOANNA KLINK

Some feel rain. Some feel the beetle startle
in its ghost-part when the bark
slips. Some feel musk. Asleep against
each other in the whiskey dark, scarcely there.
When it falls apart, some feel the moondark air
drop its motes to the patch-thick slopes of
snow. Tiny blinkings of ice from the oak,
a boot-beat that comes and goes, the line of prayer
you can follow from the dusking wind to the snowy owl
it carries. Some feel sunlight
well up in blood-vessels below the skin
and wish there had been less to lose.
Knowing how it could have been, pale maples
drowsing like a second sleep above our temperaments.
Do I imagine there is any place so safe it can’t be
snapped? Some feel the rivers shift,
blue veins through soil, as if the smokestacks were a long
dream of exhalation. The lynx lets its paws
skim the ground in snow and showers.
The wildflowers scatter in warm tints until
the second they are plucked. You can wait
to scrape the ankle-burrs, you can wait until Mercury
the early star underdraws the night and its blackest
districts. And wonder. Why others feel
through coal-thick night that deeply colored garnet
star. Why sparring and pins are all you have.
Why the earth cannot make its way towards you.

synesthesia at its best.. all senses alive in this verse.. and a main thought woven through every line, which is, " AND WONDER.." thanks, debbie...

Debbie, to any craft I do I put my personal touch in it.. same in my poetry when I started here I began as really that simple... but as I stayed here I learned more and it compelled me to elevate and made mine imprve... as always with the blogs you and Cyndi post there I learned to improve... =) this a lot lighter or more superficial when in terms of poetical devices used than the previous... YesI can breathe with the lines and am placed there.. like a 3D poetry... :D tiny blinkings of the oaks and its succeeding lines to the ones with blue veins.. these are my fave lines in this poem... =) there are also words which are in slant rhymes making the poem all the more awesome...

Her use of questions are also strategic and adds more relevant thinking from the reader and evokes further feeling... =) Lovelier than the last!~Olive Eloisa

This one much better than the last you showed, Debs. It is something I can easily understand and that means, I can appreciate it. Not one lines stands out. I like the whole of it, and how she uses words to convey her emotions, for example the repetition of the "ark" sound in the first part with startle, dark, park, bark. apart.

It's hard to convey it, but there is a type of emotion that certain sounds give us!

The wildflowers scatter in warm tints until the second they are plucked. I could write a whole poem around that line and wrap it in rose potpourri. Thank you Debbie for that compliment

Yes, Debbie you are right I write sad poetry, that seems to be my forte however once in awhile I write something happy

Kitty is about 95% back and I am confident that that in time she will be totally back, she should have been spayed at around 6 months but wasn't and had gone into heat. What happened to my kitty is rare , most spayings are routine she just took a bad reaction to the anesthesia
