Another 10 poems placed in Mile 13 of the 2019 Poetry Marathon. After 13 miles, a total of 455 poems have been submitted, and 130 poems have placed. Mile 14 Constitutes the Halfway Point of
the 2019 Poetry Marathon Contests!

Here are answers to some questions I've been asked:

How do you qualify to be in the final contest? You qualify to be in the final if you accomplish one of the following:

• Win first-place in one of the contests.

• Win either second-place or third-place—or combination thereof—in three contests (The contests do not have to be consecutive.)

• Score a total of 57 points or more.

• Wildcard qualifier—The poet with the most placements in all 27 contests, after the other qualifiers have been determined.

How will the ten overall winners be determined in the final contest?

• Qualifiers who enter the final contest with an appropriate submission will place according to the number of points they accumulated during the previous 27 contests. In other words, according to their overall performance in the marathon. You can’t get any fairer than that.

• In the event of a tie, the tiebreaker will be determined by me judging the final submitted poem of each poet involved. All decisions will be final.

How are you expected to keep up with all of us? You’re not. I am. Sit back and relax :)

The 2019 Poetry Marathon Mile 14 Contest has already begun, and constitutes the halfway point in the Poetry Marathon! Remember, this isn't a sprint, it's a marathon. We've completed 13 miles, with over 13 to go. These Premiere contests can be brutal since only 10 of the 35 submitted poems can place in the contest. Be sure to pace yourselves and have fun along the way. Cheers!

I hope your resolve isn’t cooling
A marathon can be a long, tiring race
