For the most part, I'm a romantic poet, but I also venture into satire, humor, nature, spirituality, existentialism, etc. I don't shy away from the sad and dark themes as well. I started writing poetry in November 2006. However, after losing my poetry notebook with about 135 poems in early 2009, I lost my passion for poetry completely. I was jobless for almost a year due to the recession of 2014, during that time period, I reignited my passion for poetry to stave off boredom. I discovered Poetrysoup and started posting my poems in 2016. The first poem I posted, "Wings of A Butterfly." My poems "Sing To Me, Nightingale", "Unfulfilled Dream" and "A Waxing Crescent" appeared in the first issue of Poesis Online Journal. My biography and poem "Musings of An Aging Man" features in the "My Poet Friends" section of Emile Pinet's poetry book, "A Match In The Dark." My poems "Say You Will," "Winds of Night," and "Echo Chasing" appeared in the "PS: It's Poetry" Anthology." My poems "Apogee of Grief", "To Be Loved" and "Sweet on You" appeared in the "PS: It's Still Poetry, Volume 2" Anthology." My poems "Ambling Through The Meadow" and "Depression" appeared in the "Reflections on the Important Things" anthology.

I'm currently working as a Lot Associate at The Home Depot.

I'm a Navy Veteran.

I'm Nigerian-American born in Lima, Ohio in October 28th, 1976.

I grew up mostly in Baltimore, Maryland.

I'm married to a wonderful woman(and Registered Nurse!), Helen.

I have a baby daughter named Isabelle.

Graduated from Lake Clifton Campus(formerly Lake Clifton Eastern High School), Baltimore, Maryland in 1995.
Graduated from Essex Community College in 2003 and Brightwood College(formerly TESST College of Technology) in 2005.
Certifications: Electronics Technology, Telecommunications, Fiber-Optics/Copper Network Cabling.

OK, lemme ask a stupid question:-)

I feel almost embarrassed asking this but, how do you upload Youtube videos to this site? It has frustrated me for years! lol I had a friend upload 3 audios for my poems--check out the links below-- but I want to learn how to do so myself. mp3 files are required but all I get are m4a files which don't work, ugh. Thanks guys!:-) Btw, my next contest is up now....

Hi Edward, Did you find out how to upload a video yet? Jan walked me through it. She told me how to do it step by step. Once you get the hang of it, it's easy. On YouTube, you click the share button. Click Embedded, copy it. Go to the poem that you want to add the video to, scroll down to Embed Video, copy and paste what you copied and paste into the box and click send. This is just by memory. I hope it helps .If it doesn't I can try to find the info that Jan gave to me explaining it:-) Alexis

Edward one other thing I did(not so much these days) was to upload my own clip to youtube where I had recited the poem( with some of my art work sometimes) and then added the clip(as I mention below) to the PS poem,thus those that read my poetry here can hear me recite it as they read it.Audio visual in one clip so to speak.

Edward, Think everyone has covered it below, but I'll add what I do anyway. With your poem page open for editing open another window on your comp, find video you want on YouTube, I think its share you click and you should see embed code, copy that go back to poem page and paste code, then click update poem. Re your music files, there are so many different types, what I do is for eg, if its a wave or midi etc find an online converter and convert them to MP3. If they are too big in the add mp3 section you can reduce the size of the file, it must compress it in some way. It would be a good idea for admin to do a few instruction videos on how to do these things. Good luck and this applies to everyone, if you need help with anything ask on the blog, someone will have an answer to any problem you have be it mp3, video or adding pics. Tom

Wow I'm surprised you're also struggling with the audio/video uploads, Andrea. I remember listening to a poem of yours with audio. I hope you find these tips just as helpful.

Edward if you goto my recent poem 'Satie in a cage' you will see there two youtube links.I copied the link thereof from youtube and pasted it in the link section of the 'about your poem ' of the Submit Poems'...The link then appears at the top of the poem you are posting.I always check the link to youtube works after the poem is posted to be on the safe side.Cheers

Hi Edward, this is how I do it to upload Utune videos, find the video you want, right click, where it says copy embed code, click that, come to soup and the poem where you want to load it, in the embed code space press crtl and V at the same time on your computer keyboard to paste the code in the embed code section, press update and it should show on your poem, you cannot update the poem at the same time but have to do 2 separate edits, hope this helps and that I explained it okay, let me know if it works for you, I am no good at doing audios though, and any I have done end up disappearing _Constance
