And Now For Something Completely Different...

My new contest is now posted - 'Something Completely Different: Cut-Up Poems' - a contest for poems
created using the surrealist cut-up technique. I know many people are not familiar with this technique, so I will explain it briefly. It involves cutting out random words from magazines, newspapers, old books, whatever, and then arranging them to form a poem. This is usually done in one of two ways: either you can mix the words up and then pick them out at random and use them in that exact order, which will result in an extremely surreal poem, or you can arrange the words to form something a little more coherent. Think of it as collage with words.
William S. Burroughs was a great advocate of the cut-up technique, and you can look up some examples of his work. You can also see my own cut-up poem 'Cut Up Without You'. It's a fun and relatively easy way in which to create a poem, so everybody should be able to give it a go, and I'm looking forward to reading some weird and wonderful entries! :)
