Who is Your Favorite Poet, Poets, Poem or Poems?

I had always been a strict rhymer until I re-discovered Wallace Stevens... 'Martial Cadenza' (Set during WW1 where he was an army ambulance driver) and 'No Possum, No Sop, No Taters' (about winter) are two of my favorites...I tried to paste them both on this blog but it came out all screwed up (what am I doing wrong, Cyndi?)... So if you would like to read them you'll have go to the internet (highly recommended reading!) If you look up 'Martial Cadenza', please make sure you try to find the complete version...Several sites only had partial versions... Two other favorites would be Robert Frost and the master Sonneteer, Edwin Arlington Robinson (Andrea, you ever heard of him?)
How about ya'll?...What poet, poets, poem or poems are your favorite?...Thanks for reading - Tim

One poet no one has really mentioned yet is..Walt Whitman - he is definately among my favorites, particullary his set of poems about the civil war. The big work Dona Nobis Pacem by Vaughan Williams features that set of poetry by Whitman. I highly reccomend you listen to the piece - poetry is something most inspiring when set to music. I like Edgar Allen Poe, a good amount of Shakepeare, Also, a lot of poetry from the psalms in the Bible is quite inspiring and beautiful. Anyway, those are some of my favorites.

Can't say I have just one favourite Tim, quite a number have meant a lot as I've developed in our art.(Crapsey,Williams,Moore, etc ).As you know right now I'm into poetry as spoken art form.My interest is to listen to a poet reading their own work(thereby showing how it was intended to be read) hence the reason I posted ,on youtube, myself reading a recent one of mine(incidentally Carrie has done the same ,catch it if you can folks its first class) Rgds Brian

Then in that poem there was this verse which i remember 'love is so short and oblivion so long'..Pablo Neruda..yep..Grand :)

I never read any English poem apart from my school books and apart from this site.I love R.N. Tagore's and Jibanananda das's poems (both Bengali poets)

Frost will always be favorite, and Adelaide Crapsey was introduced to me by a Souper (thanks Brian!)...recently my son gave me a book of poems written by W.S. Merwin Here is a favorite that speaks for many of us here who write poetry________ Who did I think was listening / when I wrote down the words / in pencil at the beginning / words for singing / to music I did not know / and people I did not know / would read them and stand to sing them / already knowing them / while they sing they have no names /

Dulce Et Decorum Est (something like that, a really great free verse on how awful war is). And my favorite poet is Sarah Teasdale , who was a poet of the 1900's. I may have read Robinson's works but I can't say I know him just by his name. Of course, I love Robert Frost's work! Tim did you use the other box that pops up when you copy and paste? That's how I do it. I just wish I knew how they got the pretty pictures to paste as well.

I clicked in the left upper corner of the subject(?) box below that and then tried to paste and it came out all jumbled up..Linda said she pastes the text in the 'post poem' section and then pastes it to her blog...gotta try that next time...afraid I'll NEVER know how to do art-work and pictures, etc
