Letter Home

hi dad hi mom
just writing a moment to say
the bombing is quiet
it is hot over here today
l am afraid
please don't tell dad
the nights of silence
the fear that l had
BE HOME SOON
l love you and miss you
at night l feel so alone
l was wrong and you were right
wishing l was home
I am just man in a unit of many
all young soldiers just like me
we do what we can with what is at hand
bringing order to be free
BE HOME SOON
the whispers here are all the same
everyone is writing a letter
l miss you mom and tell dad too
as a man l am better
BE HOME SOON
DEAR SIR AND MADAM
we are informing you to say
that your son acted bravely
but was killed in action today
a letter that he hat wrote is being brought
unopened addressed as home
know just how brave he had fought
the best soldier that l have known
BE HOME SOON
