The Right Company For Me

I felt so lonely living on my own
All my children had flown the nest, now grown
They visited often and occasionally took me out for a nice meal
Anything to make me forget, not to feel
The passing of my husband had been a big blow
He was too young to die, it was hard to let go
One morning I heard a whining sound
It came from my garden and it sounded like there was somebody there digging up the ground
I opened the garden door and saw the cutest dog rolling on his back
He was white and black
I let him into my house wagging his furry tail
I gave him some food and water and noticed this dog was male
He had no collar or identification
So, I called the police station
Nobody had reported a missing dog, they suggested that he might be a stray
I took him in and he wanted to play
He had made my day
Every night he stays by my side
One eye half closed, the other open wide
He is so faithful, as trusting as can be
He might be slightly disobedient but this is the dog for me

What a beautiful tale that had me grinning, Brigitte. I too am a dog lover/owner:)
