The Season of Fear
It’s time for Halloween,
The season of fear.
When all hopes and joys
Simply disappear.
My imagination takes wings
As diabolical thoughts creep into my mind.
No matter where I look,
Horror fantasies I find.
The stars far away
Look like UFOs awaiting command
To execute the alien abduction
Which for centuries has been planned.
The dark corner in the alley
Seems a vampire sucking blood
Feasting on the flesh of innocents.
(But it might just be mud)
The huge shadow near mine
Has me paralyzed with terror
But it’s a trickery of light,
A little nature’s error.
All these thoughts and moments
Chill me to the bone.
Every step is cautionary
As my fancy makes my soul groan.
But this is the essence of Halloween,
The constant vigilance and scare.
The trick is the treat of this season;
Take part in it if you dare…..
