The Perfect Girl

The perfect girl is popular
She is funny
She is smart
She’s got her life together
She is confident
She is cool
If the perfect girl is all of these things,
then what is an average girl?

The perfect girl isn’t needy
She isn’t annoying
She isn’t a liar
If the perfect girl isn’t these things,
does that mean an average girl is?

The perfect girl always wears makeup
She always wears her best clothes
She’s always on time
If the perfect girl is always these things,
does that mean the average girl isn’t?

The perfect girl never forgets anything
She never has a hair out of place
She never gets hurt
She never cries
She never worries
If the perfect girl never does these things,
does that mean the average girl does?

If the average girl isn’t perfect,
and the perfect girl isn’t average,
what happens to these traits?
Do they all go to the perfect girl
and leave the average with nothing?
The answer is the average girl is perfect,
and the perfect girl is average.
It is a lie when someone says you’re perfect.
The truth about being perfect is that no one is.
Nothing is.
Everyone is different
and no one has all of these traits
Everyone has a different handful of them.
So, if there is no such thing as perfect,
there is no perfect girl

Supernatural World

Every day is the same
Wondering why nothing
Ever changes, ever.
Thinking about what would
Happen if everyone listened.
Listened to what I have to say.
Wanting to be someone more
than just another face in a crowd,
hidden by the happiness of others.
Thirteen years old, 8th grade,
dance team, playing in school band,
scarier than ever.
Looking for my place in
This treacherous world,
Full of drama and hate.
Soon everyone will
See how they've hurt me
Even though I am nothing.
All I am is an ordinary girl in a
supernatural world.
All I will ever
Be is a lonely face
In this supernatural realm.
When I look around at my fellow students
All I see is better
Than me stuck up snobs
Who don't care.
I will always be
The face in the
Crowd that is smart.
I will always be
The face in the
Crowd that is beautiful.
Inside and out.
I will always be
The ordinary girl
Who actually cares.
No one can
Change who I am
Who I will always be
Who I have created.
I will always believe
In myself and others I
Am close too whether
Or not you believe in me.
I will trust myself more
Than I trust the bullies.
Now I am saying this
To all the girls who are judged
For who they are.
Now we all must
Stand up to the bullies
That are no better than us.
Now that we have
A force of victims
We will win
This battle has
Gone on too long, it is
time for it to end.
Now we walk through
The halls of our schools
With chins held high.
Now I walk through
The halls with my chin
Held high, to the bullies
Of this supernatural world.

Lights, Camera, Bloopers

“Come on, you got nothing on me!”
“You’re right, nothing on you is mine.”
Comebacks are things I’m certainly not good at.
I’m the one who gets roasted like a chunk o’ meat.

“Oh, uh, well… I don’t know…”
“Of course you don’t. You never do.”
I always stutter. No matter how hard I try.
Words aren’t my thing.

“First things first, I’m a say all the words inside my head.
“I’m fired up and tired of the way that things have been.”
I love to sing and play instruments.
Music is my thing.

“What do you think of my drawing?”
“It’s ok, I guess.”
I always draw random things I see.
Scenery, people, items, flowers, anything.

No one has the same quirks as another.
Everyone is one of a kind.
My quirks make my bloopers
which make every production come together.

Belong

Looking down at the ground
Feeling like I’m bound
By all the people around
Wondering what I did wrong
To feel like I don’t belong
Trying just to get along

Looking at the sky
Wishing I could fly
Wanting to say goodbye
Thinking about the words
Everything’s in chords
Stuck in the middle of the board

The words you say that keep me up
Nights are long; days are torn
Searching for a way to build up
But I’m being pricked by your thorn
All I hear is “suck it up buttercup”
When I try not to mourn

Shuffling the cards
Keeping up my guards
Falling behind, going backwards
Wondering what I did wrong
To feel like I don’t belong
Trying just to get along.

Future Self

Dear Future Self,

I know I have had my ups and downs.
I’ve broken in half, I’ve lost my crown.
I tried to be more than myself
I let them take over by being themselves.
The people I wish to never become.

The future is not written.
It is out there for the taking.
For a new soul to overcome
And form a new kingdom.
A place where everyone can start over.
Never having to run for cover.

Ever again.

I look out the window now
And see people who bow
To people who are not greater than we are.

Celebrities, actors, the rich, the powerful.
But most ignore the real kings and queens.
Strong, passionate, confident, beautiful.
No more letting silly things define us like genes.
Anyone can be great,
If they truly want it.

Future self, don’t let the “greats” win
Make a difference, live in your own skin.
Don’t worry about me,
I’ll be fine, just leave me be.

Sincerely, Present self

Love

What is love?
Love is devoting your heart
to someone or something,
showing affection,
showing compassion and care,
being kind and loyal,
not being selfish.
That is love.

Stronger

We started out small
All we could do was crawl
Making it through all the hard times
Now we're kicking the ball
And trying not fall
But we'll always stick together

Cause we're stronger together
We're making it better
We are stronger
Stronger together

We ended up falling down
Hiding from the whole town
Making it through all the hard times
Now we’re dancing around
Wishing for the crown
To fall down on us once more

Cause we’re stronger together
We’re making in better
We are stronger
Stronger together

My Lies

My lies get me into trouble.
My lies take me places I shouldn’t be.
My lies change my path.
My lies ruin me.

My truth saves me.
My truth keeps me safe.
My truth puts everything back in place.
My truth mends my soul.

Your lies change my feelings.
Your lies give me doubt.
Your lies point out the wrong way.
Your lies make me loose myself.

Your truth puts a beat in my heart.
Your truth gives me hope.
Your truth helps me find home.
Your truth makes me learn to love again.

Lies hurt more than just words alone.
The truth hurts more when it is also a lie.
Words that hurt are truth and lies.
Lying is a sin. But the truth can be, too.

Why

Song by my friend F.O.

There’s some days
You need a break
Don’t let those people get you down
No time to think
No time to breathe
The past is gone
The present is now

Oh why are you being like this
I don’t wanna be mean
But I will be a priss
Oh why won’t you tell me
You know I’m here
I’ll always have your back
So tell me
Why

Don’t think of it as bad
The past is in the past
Don’t be mad don’t be upset
I’ll zap the haters down
They’re so obsessed
With perfectness
So tell me now
I don’t care if you cry
I have problems too
I’m not gonna lie
But you go first and I’ll go next
We’ll leave the hating to the rest
I’m on silent aren’t I

Oh why won’t you tell me
You know I’m here
I’ll always have your back
You best not make me cry
So tell me
Why

Won’t you tell me
You know I’m here
Won’t you tell me
I’ll always have ur back
Won’t you tell me
You best not make me cry
Won’t you tell me
You know I’m here
Won’t you tell me
I’ll always have your back
Won’t u tell me
You best not you make me cry
So tell me…
Why

My Abcs

After
Breaking
Crying and
Drowning;

After feeling:
Empty
Forgotten
Guilty
Hated
Insecure
Judged;

After being:
Kept out
Labeled and lied to
Mistaken
Negative
Offended
Picked on
Quiet
Rejected
Stressed
Torn
Unaccepted
Valueless
Worried
X’d out
Yelled at
Zoned out

You still ask, “How are you?”
and I still say, “I’m fine.”
while I am thinking about, feeling, reliving all of these things.
After bawling every night
and trying to talk to someone,
You still don’t see me crying on the inside even though I have a smile plastered on my face.
I am human.
I am a girl.
I am just like you.
So why do you have to divide us?
Why do you care what I wear or what I say?
Will it effect you in any way?
Only if you let it.
So I am not ok.
I am and always will be,
alone
broken
cheated
dead
empty
I am the ABC’s
