Salutations To Tiranga -Indian National Flag

Salutations to Tiranga (Indian National Flag)

Mother India was freed from the British shackles...
To tyranny we bid adieu, new freedom welcomed!
'Tiranga' with due honour, replaced the 'Union jack'
Fluttered in the blue sky in the glory of victory!
Orchestra of happy moods had finally arrived,
Calling for celebrations with full pomp and joy!
Our National Anthem sung and Trumphets blown
All Indians joined festivity forgetting all woes!
Adding wings to this happiness, the Tricolour fluttered!!

Breeze of bloodbath and fetters all disappeared
Flew with resplendence this khadi splendour!
Three stripes horizontal with a central wheel
Top is the saffron for selflessness and valour,
Also marks vibrant hue of Ego absolution!
White in the middle stands for peace and purity
Also Knowledge and honesty attribute to it
The dark green in the third stripe is for faith and fertility,
Happiness and prosperity for a greener globe!
The wheel of dharma adopted from the Lion capital,
That once sung heroism of Asoka, the Emperor!
In navy blue is this wheel placed in the centre,
Progress it represents with spokes twenty-four

Ignites a spark of deep patriotism as it flutters
Wrapped around cadaver of the martyrs of this mother
Glory to Tiranga, Glory to the Nation,
World's largest democracy salutes this symbol
Let our flag soar high and keep our spirits boosted
Long live Tiranga till the sky is above!

Revival- a Dedication

REVIVAL - A Dedication

Filled to the brink, ink in the barrel of my pen
Yet hesitant to flow as poem for days more than ten

Writer’s block or lethargy, I am unsure what and when
Like a cocoon reeled all around, my words trapped in den

No muse, no zeal, me cornered to the cozy comfort zone
Excuses I made in plenty- hell lot of work, I don’t have my clone!

Days and nights kept rolling, in my mind ,seeds called shirk were sown
Attitude of why bother?Chill! It happens to many, you are not alone

But entered little change to break this status quo
When a new message dropped into my mailbox you know

It was from this lady named Linda, dear poetess on Poetry soup!
On three of my poems that I had already posted, she sent in her scoop....

Her precious words of appreciation! left me motivated and inspired
To write new poem decided I ,my lost enthusiasm her words revived

Heartfelt gratitude dear lady, this poem to you with love I dedicate
Like an angel, to me you ferried a bundle of cheering for definite!

My words have now started flowing out of my mind's greenroom
To present before you all this poem in their free flowing inky costume!

( I dedicate this poem to my dear poetess -Linda, Poet Destroyer A )

Happy New Year

HAPPY NEW YEAR Retreated forever to the nest of the past Last year’s bird leaving memories to last The winter, the spring, the summer, the autumn Left itself enriched with experience and wisdom It tasted sweet berries and nestled in peace And at times got bitter nuts and sting from bad bees While leaving it tweeted in ears of its new little bird A message to be grateful and chirp sweetest word This new year’s bird flapping its tiny new wings New greetings , new celebrations, new joy it brings Its in infancy perched on the tender tree-sprig Learning to tap its feet to the new life’s jig Little eyes so curious filled with new hope New choices, new chances, new chum in its scope Showers of blessings and plenty of love pouring in To realize all dreams and tread in right path to win!

Emboldening Art

EMBOLDENING ART The stone you pelt at a fruit tree causes it immense pain It still feeds you with smile a delicious sweet fruit Between sharp blades you crush the sugarcane Thirst it quenches with its juice dripping for you so sweet Concealing to the core, stark suffering from the bad world’s abuse... The art of exuding scent of kindness and love is mastered by few This art etched on their soul, they suffer for others, redeem and die with it!

A P J Abdul Kalam- a Tribute

Oh! Mother India,
Let the pain of bereavement, with all its might,
try not to express itself......
For it will encounter a huge cascading defeat,
And it'll over-flow for sure!
For the cause of pain is so very deep....
Whole Nation is weeping for the great loss of
a noble son of yours!
Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam-
an invaluable gem in your crown!!!

Born in a village called Rameswaram,
laced in the lap of your eastern coromandel coast;
Poverty and hardships filled his childhood,
So he supported his family selling newspapers...
He overcame all struggles of life undeterred,
With an iron will treading the path of hardwork,
Righteousness and sincere effort!

Scaled new heights of success and
grew up to become an eminent aerospace scientist,
A revered professor and
a graceful author of several books,
igniting the minds of millions!
An inspiring soul,a versatile genius
A noble teacher for young and old till the end...
His life-an epitome of discipline, humility, simplicity!
His genius he dedicated, for your defence and designed several missiles
Oh mother so he is rightly called
'The missile man of India'!
He graced your nation as the eleventh president and
touched the lives of millions!
Honour of highest civilian award-The Bharat Ratna, an honour
well deserved!
He ignited a spark in millions of children and youth,
A spark to dream, dream and dream....for
He believed that dreams would trigger the thoughts and
thoughts in turn into actions!
He opind that its always easy to defeat someone,
but difficult to win someone....
Oh mother, your noble son conquered billion hearts
so easily with the charisma of his persona!
He stood an indomitable champion of universal brotherhood
and global peace!!!!!
Salutations to this noble son who has set sail for his
heavenly abode....oh mother this great son of your land
will reside in all our hearts today and forever!
A legend he was while he lived and will be a legend perpetually....
Our loving homage to this enlightened soul!

GLISTENING GOKARNA This scenic beauty, a grand temple town Seated in the Arabian Sea like a golden crown Bedecked on its bosom the blue beaches festoon To name a few- Kudle, Paradise,Om and Half moon Plays host to a galore of global tourists Adventure enthusiasts and also motorists Its a Sanskrit hub; has temples ancient opulent Spirituality, Vedic chants have sprayed its sweet scent The gracious mountains line the beaches pristine Verdant vegetation like emerald has draped it green Coconut fronds along the shores sway in gentle breeze Colourful narrow streets and shacks to you please with ease Savoring the magic of Sunrise and Sunset on the yellow sand Makes you get lost in trance attaining bliss with its magic wand In the twilight’s crimson red a natural painting of the retreating birds… And fishing boats dancing with waves cannot be explained with words!
8th November 2016 My Kind of Town - Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Janis Thompson Notes: Gokarna is a small temple town on the western coast of India in Uttara Kannada district of the state of Karnataka. Gokarna in Kannada language (my mother tongue) means Cow's ear. Vedic chant-The oral tradition of the Vedas (Srauta) consists of several pathas, "recitations" or ways of chanting the Vedic mantras. Such traditions of Vedic chant are often considered the oldest unbroken oral tradition in existence, the fixation of the Vedic texts (samhitas) as preserved dating to roughly the time of Homer (early Iron Age).UNESCO proclaimed the tradition of Vedic chant a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity on November 7, 2003.

In the Library- For Contest

In the library - for contest

Books are the ever- burning lamps
Of knowledge and wisdom....
It 's a well-established truth and I
also nod in full agreement...
But let me say this, I am not a nerd
And I am not a book-worm....
Nor do I have a flair for reading much
and all my friends know this too well....
But in these few days what surprised
them was my frequent library visits
My tryst with our town library..
was on a rising note day- by -day
My friends got curious and dubious!
Free-times or weekends my schedule
had changed,
My footsteps take me to the library road ....
All roads for me led to library not Rome!
Friends were not on my agenda as before...
Intolerable, all in a group they did approach
Asked me the reason for my library craze...
I shrugged, I smiled,I winked,
I blushed but didn't disclose....
My visits to library stay continued...
One fine morning greatly dressed I,
left my home as my perfume lingered
My destination, I need not say now
I know you readers have guessed it right!
My steps moved in well-paced rhythm
Hilarious spirits , morning pleasant!
Sun smiled at me and flowers wished!
Into the library i did step in...
And as his glimpse my sight caught
I blushed, I waved, smile creeping in
Bright face, so elegant , so handsome
Waved back and sent me a flying kiss
A research scholar and my new love!
Day in and day out he enjoys with books...
"The origin of species" by Charles Darwin
Rene Descartes and his philosophy of,
Cogito ergo sum !
My experiments with truth by Mahatma Gandhi!
Hereditary principles by Gregor Mendel..
Sociological thoughts of Max Weber
These are a few that I recollect..
Oh my dear soup friends...now that you all know
Please maintain silence.... is the board I'll point at!
My other friends are still curious....
I leave it to them to find on their own!!
My love has filled in me a new passion
my reading habit is slowly improving!
I sat with him last week with Pygmalion
Classic of versatile George Bernard Shaw
How hours passed like minutes, I never know!
I Worship library now as a repository
of knowledge of varied genre!
In reading and applying what we read
lies our real wisdom!
