Autumn

Spider webs are laced in silver
Grass shimmers like frosted glass
Leaves are crunching under the feet
Of people as they pass

The world smells crisp and clean
And my breath hangs in the air
The branches of the trees reach up
Autumn has made them bare

I love those autumn mornings
When everything feels brand new
All the colours are bright and bold
And the skies are clear and blue

Beauty Is Only Skin Deep

My thighs may slap together My bum, it may be huge But if you look a little deeper You'll find my heart is true My stomach may be rounded My bingo wings? Disaster But my friends will always stick around While yours will leave much faster Everything may wobble On my walk across to work But the smiles I get are genuine While yours are just a smirk I may have got a second chin And be all over flabby But you get your joy from others pain While my friends make me happy So while your comments hurt me And make me sad and worry I can't wallow in self pity As it's for you that I feel sorry

I Have a Little Secret

I have a little secret
Ok it’s not so small
But I have to keep it hidden
Can’t tell anyone at all

I have made a mask
That fits me like a glove
So no one knows the real me
Not even those above

I can’t tell myself
What I need to hear
Can’t risk someone seeing
One escaped hot tear

So I keep it hidden
Who I really am
Because I’m not sure I know
So nobody else can

Frog and Toad

A frog went on a day trip to a pond just down the road, where he met up with his friend, Ribbity the Toad.
They found their favourite lily pad and hopped up side by side and called the taxi fish to hail them for a ride.
They went right in to the middle to where tadpoles sold ice-cream and newts were selling tickets for a concert at the stream.
Toad had had too much dessert and felt a little icky. Frog had dripped it down his front and made himself quite sticky.
They hopped in to the water to swim and cool off a bit, then climbed out on to the bank to find somewhere to sit.
They talked about the weather and the kids were doing at school and the latest people living at the Grand Lakeside Hall.
Frog had brought a picnic of barbeque flavoured slugs and they bought fresh maggots with honey coated bugs.
They shared a bottle of pond weed wine and some chocolate and fly cake, which Mrs. Toad that very morning, had kindly said she’d make.
They said that they’d buy tickets to the comedy show tonight and asked directions to the booth; straight down and then turn right.
The pair sat and laughed their way through a very funny man who told them that his name was Frogosauras Stan.
He did dinosaur impressions, which is hard in summer heat. Frog and toad both laughed so hard that toad fell off his seat.
When Frogosauras Stan took his final bow, Toad and Frog decided it was time to go home now.
They went back to the pond and hailed the taxi crew and the fish moved so fast across the water that the lily pad nearly flew!
Once Frog and Toad were safely back upon the bank the other side, they shook each others hands and said their goodbyes.
Frog enjoyed his day trip to the pond just down the road and he really enjoyed seeing his friend Mr Toad.

Horatio

With his heat protective suit
And his cape of perfect red
He had his yellow helmet
Fastened securely on his head

He felt like the superhero
That he really truly was
But it didn’t always go to plan
And this was because…

No one would believe him
When he spun inside his wheel
That by night he would escape
And it all became quite real

The other superheroes
To Horatio were cruel
They said he wasn’t super
A hamster was too small

But he showed them all
When on one blustery night
His attention got attracted
To an orange flickering light

He heard a lady shouting
Her house burnt and blazed
But he was a superhero
Horatio wasn’t phased

He flew down to the window
And used his super powers
He picked her up in his paws
And they landed in the flowers

No one could believe it
But the ‘sorrys’ were enough
Because Horatio had proved
That he was just as tough!

Bedtime Monsters

Edward looked under the bed
and sighed.
'Under there is where a
monster could hide'. He looked
in the wardrobe and shook his
head, 'this is worse than under
the bed!'
He looked in the toy chest and
held back the tears 'a monster
could hide in here for years!'
He looked in the toy cupboard
and let out a growl. 'There's
plenty of room for a monster
to prowl!'
He heard feet on the stairs
and the door opened wide, he
needed somewhere quick to
hide!
Mummys are good at keeping
monster away, so he jumped
in the toy chest and decided to
stay.
Edward the monster preferred
under the bed, but tonight
he'd sleep in the toy chest
instead.

I Can'T Name It

Don't worry about her they said
Her bark is worse than her bite
But what they didn't know
Is that she used her claws to fight

Suddenly she changed before their eyes
The abusers stopped and stared
She had finally had enough
She would make them hurt and scared

She felt the anger boil and rise
Her soul turned black as night
She knew she would enjoy the chase
As the abusers all took flight

She would make them see
The hate through her own eyes
Make her the one they fear
With torment like their lies

She chased them through the town
Down alleyways and lanes
Chasing them towards the sewers
The water tanks and drains

She would show them helpless
Show them bullied and abused
She would show that people
Are not play things to be used

They sought the safety of the tunnels
But little did they know
That she would drive them forward
To the place she used to go

The black and swirling water
Looked like a giant eye
"Please make your last requests,
Its time to say goodbye"

She crouched down low beside them
In a predatory stance
"You could apologise you know,
I'll give you one last chance"

One girl dropped down on bended knees
Sobbed and begged for life
She felt her anger subside a little
Took her had off the hunting knife

The second girl just stared below
At the swirling water deep
And floods of regret and sorrow
Made her collapse and start to weep

The last and final girl
Decided to stand her ground
They faced each other solidly
Neither made a sound

The girl extended her hand
Towards the girl that she despised
And saw her breathing calm a little
The blackness leave her eyes

The girl took one step forward
Her fingers reaching out
Not knowing how this was to end
Or what it was about

Her fingers pushed through anger
Through layers of hate and lies
The nights of pain and anguish
The unheard and unloved cries

Her fingers touched the skin
So old and thin to touch
She felt the pain and sorrow
And finally knew how much

She stepped into the body
Crouched upon the floor
And felt the ice that froze her
Right to the very core

Together they moved to stand up
To approach the other two
This was when it had to end
The point that they all knew

Now the soul was shattered
In four distinctive parts
But they must learn to work together
For they don't have separate hearts.

The End of Days

The world lies silently sleeping
The day of judgement has come
This day is one of awe and wonder
But feared by many and none

I looked out across the seafront
The waters calm and still
Across the meadow was quiet
Nothing stirred on the hill

Everything was holding its breath
Nothing dare speak or move
Everything waiting, waiting
To see what it’s made to prove

Had we as a world, as one and all
Done enough to make it through?
Only the one who judges and knows
Could tell us what really was true

Fire would consume us all
Or feathers protect us from fate
Depending on the judgement
All we could do was wait

Then very softly from the sky
The feathers, through air and trees
The one who judges sent the sign
And everything moved with ease

The end of days as we knew them
Time to start over and new
The judge had passed his sentence
Repayment was now due

Do You Ever

Do you ever wonder
As the sun begins to set
About people who have crossed your path
And those you've never met?

Do you ever wonder
At the setting of the sun
About the lives that have gone before
And those that have just begun?

Do you ever wonder
As the sun starts to rise
What lies behind an adults laughter
Or happiness in childrens eyes?

Do you ever wonder
At the rising of the sun
What our ancesters did
And our children will have done?

Do you ever wonder
As you go about your day
About the people around you
And the role that they all play?

Maybe you should wonder
About the world at last
And it how it shapes our future
And was shaped by our past.

A Life That Changed

Here ends a life that never was Lord, I thank you for your love In the morn, my soul will ascend A snow white turtle dove When you sleep, your dreams alight You’re free from guilt and fear When you awake in the dead of night My screams are all you hear Then like an angel from high above A black cloaked figure stood “He heard your words of thanks for love and has acted as he should” The angelic priest then took her hand And lifted her on high It was then she heard the heavenly band And knew her time was nigh The Lord was there to greet her “My child your faith held strong may you serve for a while longer and join the spiritual throng” He sent her back down to a part of France Where Our Lady once appeared And taking up this one last chance A blue clad person neared “Hi I’m Lucy” the person said Her voice so soft and true She turned to smile, her graceful head Noticing the crowd of blue This was where her true heart lie In the place of penance and love Where in the morn she did release Her snow white turtle dove.
