MENTAL ILLNESS
Mental Illness is well defined and outlined
Manifesting in behaviors or frame of mind
An invisible pain not easily seen
Unless you’re aware and very keen
It manifests in different ways
Depending on the illness’s stage
One clue can be personality changes
Or it alter behaviors from happy to rages
Some might separate, isolate and hide
Or have their anxiety peak like a cresting tide
Others might becoming angry and dark
Lashing at others in a frustrated bark
Some are engulfed in worry and fear
Some so depressed shedding nothing but tears
Sometimes symptoms can last for many years
Full of high and low “euphoric” tiers
Lack of concentration is a sure sign
Or changes in appetite is the next in line
Others might feel helpless, hopeless, and tired
Making them feel lazy, undesired, uninspired
So if you feel any changes like this happening to you
Please reach out, speak up, and find someone to talk to
Someone you trust or a professional will do
To help guide you back to feeling like the old you

Kris Petrone Poem
SHADOWS…
My past is only a shadow, of who I use to be
I moved into the light, to embrace a better me
But every now and then, dark movements catch my eye
I believe it’s the stalking shadows, of all my yesterday’s gone by
They’re always creeping, searching around, to find a way back in
To rid me of self-worth, and to bore doubt under my skin
However, I now know, how to battle the dark emotional things
I just step into the sunlight and blind them with my new found wings
