By The Time

By The Time

By the time you find this
you will have already felt an emptiness
by the time you find this
you will almost unknowingly fear to open it
it will feel strange
it will unfold slowly

By the time you read this
it will dawn that something is wrong
by the time you read this
it will flow into your heart
I am missing
I am gone

By the time you finish this
you will find your mind will be racing
by the time you finish this
you will recall my last real smile
only then will you hear my last words
only then will you begin to understand

by the time you lay this down
it will still be open
by the time you lay this down
you will wonder who to call
time will seem to flood into a collage
time will seem to slow to a crawl

by the time they find me
it will only then become so clear
by the time they find me
I will already have become a memory
that last kiss will be a little sweeter
that last kiss will live forever

I Can Still Hear The Whip poor wills

The bank took ole'man Copelands farm,
the cows they no longer roam.
They raped the land.then sliced it up,
and stacked in mobile homes.

We used to count the stars at night,
they were endless, when the sky was clear.
Now their all lost in the warehouse lights,
almost four miles from here.

The city keeps creeping closer,it feels
faceless and grey.
Whittling me down till I feel all is lost,
and my being melts away.

But I can still hear the whip-o-wills,
so I know that there's still hope.
Yes,I can still hear the whip-o-wills,
their lonesome song helps me to cope.

I can still hear the whip-o-wills,
God grant their song always be.
For as long as I can hear the whip-o-wills,
I am still free.

The Haunting of A Heart

I've learned how time slips away
The years keep rolling right on by.
I've watched Tomorrow become yesterday
All in just a blink of an eye.

Now some memories remain sharp and true
Lingering for all of our time.
And more and more I think of you
I wonder if I ever cross your mind.

Remember all those long hot summer nights
when our love was shiny and new
Curse those silly over sized fights
That now only leave me misty and blue

And who ever said time will heal all pain
Told a cold and bare faced lie
In the end it doesn't matter who is to blame
Lost loves haunt your heart till you die.
