Africa

A silhouette of pulchritude finest
And fairest of your kind.
You're an apparition from swart clay kneaded;
From head to toe, you're perfectly imperfect,
Why do you envy the sun?

Your head is enveloped in hair tawny,
The cupid that awakens lust
In men and eyes of gods.
Africa my mother!
Thou art rich;
Nights in their fullness from you
Borrow their skin.
Don't become
A ripe-lemon's colour!

Bury not your natural nature
In creams and colourants.
Find comfort even in your scars
Each is a memory
Written therein your skin's diary.

To Me

What are you, if not a bone of my bones?
My missing rib!

What are you, if not three beings in one body?
-A mother to forgive my follies,
- A sister to shelter my sins
And a wife to whom my request is a command.

What are you, if not an exhale on my lips?
That gentle zephyr
That sweet music
The lullaby I sleep to.

What are you, if not a beat of my heart?
An elixir of life
A drug running in my veins.

Jesus and the Sinner

When she found mercy,
How gently salvation spoke;
Love like oceans,
Torrents swept away the shores of her shame.
He looked at her
And saw His anointment
But
When He looked at my sins
He saw my need!

Duties

If you're alive, accept the ups and downs of life
As an infant accepts its new name
Live knowing life is two faced a coin.

If you're married, relate as tongue and teeth
Always forgiving
And to your companion in all a weather stick
As a Zebra and her stripes
Two beings in one soul.

If you're a teacher, your low pay accept
As a dog a jawbone from his master accepts
Always scorned as a bus driver
But passengers in care their endpoints reaching
Teach the world to a star's worthy.

If you're a preacher,
The good news far and wide
Spread!
As the hurricane brutally blowing
Sin’s roots uprooting
And where possible, your mouth open.

Dear Woman

Young and old, kindly recall
All humans are equal,
Only differentiated by gender
Let's all on this ponder.

Dream with all courage,
Think beyond the horizon of marriage.
No man rules with a pest
And freedom befriends not a parasite.

Marriage is not everything
See even the lioness preys with her king.
Success favors no sex
Through work, reach its apex.

Neene

Tell me stories sewn on your scars
Stories you walked in the morning of your life;
Tell me how purity muffled your sexual organs
Till age ripened them.
.
Neen!
Tell me of your crystalized pain
The wisdom under whose guardianship
Men learnt hardwork
Not orgasm harvest.

Neen!
Shrine of our ways ancient,
Speak to the revival of our heritage,
Tell me of days
Under whose wake each phoneme
From a child's mouth knew respect
And truth.

Tell me of times old
When Kidnapping by condoms men knew not
Days sex meant marriage validity
And procreation..

I Hope

I hope you find someone who loves you by choice not chance;
Someone who never makes you question your self-worth.
I hope you find someone who pursues your happiness as much as their own;
Someone who sticks to you as stripes on a Zebra, two beings in one soul.
I hope you find someone to relate to in a cataclysmic way;
Someone to be with like tongue and teeth, always forgiving.
I hope you find someone in whom you find a friend, lover and partner;
Someone who is your everything in anything.
I hope you find someone who treats you as their equal;
Someone who learns and grows with you and besides you.
Finally
I hope you find someone who completes you;
Someone in whose absence you're half part away
And be kind enough to be like that special someone you seek.

Black Rose

I have walked roads so wide
I have seen beauty held in pride
To be frank,
You’re beauty’s bank
Your body has a voice
That weakens my choice.
You’re a woman to fill my life
Someday, you will be my wife
Darling, you’re too rich in beauty
For poverty
And too mature for puberty
Beauty and poverty can’t share a hand
I hope you understand
Black Rose
You’re today my pride
Tomorrow my only bride
For you, my love is loud
Like a thunder in a cloud

Sometimes

Yes sometimes
Intoxication take residence
In the heart
I drink
From Love's tarven
And lose myself into its Holy grail
Like fish in oceans
Sometimes
Yes!
I want you closer
As a ring to the finger
Thorns to the rose
Closer!
Yes
And hide from judging eyes
Like blood in jugular veins.

Village Maiden

I am a story among stories
Riddled with many victories;
I was written in a womb
Now trapped in the tomb.

My body has a voice
Blessed with poise;
Beauty held in alluring contour
That sends even gods on a sexual tour.

I am a black child dressed in grace
That reflects on my man’s face;
Reason leads me like a horse-drawn carriage
In my quest for marriage.
