Martha Pherigo Poem
I sit here wondering in the dark
Will I ever have that spark
The one that makes your eyes shine
As you caress the velvet petals so
For they are so beautiful you see
With the sun shining so brightly
The look so perfect and so pure
Full of blossom and serenity
I sit here with in the shadows
Withered petals and so small
Who would ever want me at all
No one will ever want one so broken
You pass by and with just one glance
Without hesitation you say at last
This is the one mommy the one I seek
The flower I will forever keep
"Why," the mother then replies
"The thorns are gone and the stem is broken ?"
To my astonishment the boy then replies
To anyone who can comprehend
" Just like me my legs were not made so perfectly
In these braces they may forever stay
They are just as god wanted them
So perfectly "
I may not be made just right
To anyone who glances at first sight
That's why just like me
The rose in the shadows
Is the perfect rose for me
