Voracious Reader
A precocious young girl named Genevieve
could read at a pace not to be believed.
Her recall was sublime,
“That’s A Wrinkle in Time!”
Seeing one page in an ad, she perceived.

For Genevieve, My Grandbaby
My precious Grandbaby
I was there on your birthday
Eyes so deep blue
Who would have knew
You're so sweet and innocent
Because you were Heaven sent
My tiny little angel
You make my heart full
No matter what should ensue
Know I'm always here for you...

Cimmerian Desires
Those dark furtive eyes,
into my own they secretly pry.
Orbs of obsidian deep,
my discipline I can barely keep.
Gaze further into my eyes,
bare me so I tell no lies.
Shred off every inch of my defense,
mesmerize me into submission like incense.
It`s driving me insane,
render me pleasure and pain.
Fill my heart with sin,
make me into someone I`ve never been.

Signs of Spring
I finally saw a robin bird,
Singing loudly to be heard
Tippy, my rescued kitten,
Sits in the window listenin'
My lilacs are now in bloom
I love the smell of their perfume
The days are now sunnier,
And so much warmer
My sweet Grandbaby, Genevieve,
Is getting too big to believe
Come the first day of May,
She'll have her first birthday
I'm so glad that Spring is here,
I've been waiting for it to appear...

Walking and Talking
When Genevieve asks me to walk,
my answer: an emphatic “Yes!”
To stroll the woods and simply hear her talk?
The top of my list, I confess.
I love the world she has in view:
an innocence of fun and good.
A daily hike, it seems, fits nicely too;
that is, of course, if we both could.
I know her sense will change with age:
reality that makes me sad.
For now, I’m happy walking out this page;
there’s not a thing I’d think to add....

Hurtful Things You Say
Hurtful things you say,
Tear me apart in every way
Think before you speak to me,
Because I will not let it be
I treat you nice, and show some slack,
But there are times I will strike back
Even though you are my relative,
If you want love, be sure to give
For I am sensitive just like you,
I have feelings and can hurt too!
Written after my mom said something really mean to me about my Granddaughter
Genevieve on Easter Sunday....
