Thank You All

For those who are a relation,
for those who volunteer in participation,
with giving your love and dedication.

For all, I have a great appreciation.
For blessed am I to have, for all, who taken part,
in my very life, varying at moments, from the start.
Showing me how beautiful you all are, like a work of art.
I thank you all, for the loving shown, from your very heart.

A Meals On Wheels Volunteer

A Meals on Wheels Volunteer

We give our time and use our wheels
When we deliver hot and cold meals

Bringing our elderly and disabled a meal to eat
We go to homes on many a street

We do this to show we care
It’s a good feeling to volunteer

In the winter months we never know
Sorry when we miss because of snow

This can be our way of thanking you
The elderly, the disabled and shut-ins to

For what we do we receive no pay
Just a thank you would be okay

Crikey

Crikey

The fires are burning out of control
All hands on the pumps
Let’s Rock and Roll
Crikey was the Fireman’s name
And putting out fires was his game
He was here, there and everywhere
Crikey was a cobber, a friend and
Most of all, a Volunteer
From Sun-up to Sunset, he was never late
And always greeted you with a smile
And a “Gidday Mate”
Crikey would like to thank you all for your support
Special thanks to Nick Kyrgios and his sport
New Zealand sends our thoughts and prayers
To Crikey and all the other Volunteers

Thanks Dad

Think of us oft, when you travel afar,
On orders protecting, lives we enjoy;
You and your pals, family superstars,
We miss you every time, you must deploy.

And while you’re away, the kids will move on,
School, sports, church—and nightly prayers for their Dad;
Strong daily living; a life marathon,
Until your return, our love ironclad.

Many folks benefit from your good will,
They honor volunteer service no doubt;
And when you return, back to the sawmill,
Our own return to normal, comes about.

Thank you. We love you. You are our hero.
Our resistance to your service—zero!

Why I Volunteer At Meals On Wheels

Why I Volunteer at Meals on Wheels

Why I volunteer at Meals on Wheels,
I do it to help people receive meals.
I had to get a photo id
This is for the people’s safety
At first I thought of it as just something to do
After that first day I realized that wasn’t true
I deliver a meal to the elderly and I do it with care
Some of the elderly may be in a wheelchair
The hot food is carried in a hot insulated bag
The cold food is carried in a cold insulated bag
It’s a good feeling to volunteer
The people appreciate that we care
I knock at the door and yell hello
I also check on them before I go
A stranger had said to me, thank you
She was thanking me for what I do
It’s a good feeling to volunteer
This is something we Americans do to show we care

Thank You For Your Service

I felt that I should volunteer
for two short years to do my part,
and so I asked the local draft board,
“Make me next, I want to serve.”

The letter came from Uncle Sam.
It told me to do and when.
They gave me a green uniform,
as orders flew from all directions.

The food was good, the hours long,
as training turned us into men.
Our hair was short, our pay was low,
just sixty-three dollars a month.

I went to war my second year
and lived behind a wire fence.
A prison term is what it seemed.
It felt like incarceration.

When it was over, I came home
with ribbons on my uniform.
“Distinguished Service” was awarded,
by the officer in charge.

Fifty years have come and gone,
but still I hear that special phrase,
from some who say to veterans,
“Thank you for your service.”

One Big Lonely

A People Helping People person is what I used to be,
but I'm a People Helping Animals person presently.
I'm not a people person anymore like the way I used to be.
People disappoint, people deceive,
but my animal companions do not warrant such worries.
They are devoted to me unconditionally,
as I am always to they respectfully.
Whether they reside in my home permanent or temporarily
or whether they are at a shelter where I'll volunteer freely,
or whether they be strays or wild life living independently,
I display towards they what they display towards me.
I respect them, I protect them and I love them unconditionally.
I thank God for their existence quite regularly,
because without my animal companions my life would most certainly be
total isolation without any true meaningful company.
A life that could be defined as One Big Lonely.

Good Customer Service

As a volunteer in a coffee shop as a waitress,
I provide customer service all the time.
Sometimes I make mistakes,
Other times I provide good customer service.

One day a customer came in for lunch,
She ordered a toastie and chose the middle line of fillings.
She didn’t realise the three lines of filling options were different things,
I pointed out the first filling on that line goes with the last filling on the first line.

She reread the menu and chose cheese & pickle,
The toastie was cooked and delivered quickly.
When she paid her bill, she said to me,
‘Thank you for your help’.

She told the manager about how helpful I was,
When she got confused about the fillings.
The manager was pleased to hear about this,
She said how pleased she was.
This is something to remember.

Greek Festival

Greek Festival

I've waited an entire year for this!
More exciting than Christmas,
for me...
If only I had a wish list.

The foods magnificent, the love
expressed tastefully, yet simply
extravagant.
The aroma of Frappes and gyros
set me reeling.
Stuffed grape leaves and the best
pastitsio on earth.
Cooked by volunteer cooks~
sweating with love and mirth.
Another time of communal OPA,
with great feeling.

The dancing, oh!
The Sirtaki and the wonderful,
Hasapiko.which are danced with
beauty and total grace!
There's no better time than this.
It leaves a beaming smile on my
face.

Greek bread drives me to total
gastronomic oblivion.
Pastries, lift me to heaven, off
I go!
Ah, Greek Festival, one more
special event with Hellenic,
great feeling!
"Philitomo", well you have to look
that one up-:))
As it has multiple meanings.

Thank you.

Hero's

Hero's

It's wonderful all the people that are willing to come together,
No matter how big or small the disaster, Man made or mother nature,
They're always a lending hand to rebuild lives, We all need to keep our hero's
of the world in mind, They never had to be this kind, They're present in your life for
your relief,
Thank you search and rescue teams, Thank you anyone who is just a volunteer
willing to help,
I can't imagine How all those families felt,All the people lost there homes, Loved
ones lost too,
I feel for these people in knowing what they've been through, All in shock , Not
knowing where to
go, After getting stuck in the path of an EF5 tornado,

Inspired by a true story in Joplin Missouri. I was born in Joplin then moved away.
Once I graduated high school. I returned. I lived In Joplin for 6 years after
returning. Then moved out of state. The day
I was coming to visit my family in Joplin is the day that the storm came through
producing this mass
destruction. That day Was the 22 of may 2011..

One Volunteer, Katrina Afterwards

I take time for coffee and croissants,
Pack the car and drive to Houston town.
Make delivery of food and clothes,
Bandages and diapers; meeting wants.

Inbound on US Highway 59
Long lines move slow, who can they all be?
Visitors who peek at disaster?
No, they're just like me. Here to combine

United community effort.
Everyone shares disaster's burdens
With trained professionals who care; do
What they can to ease and abort,

Victims angry fears by giving them
Tender care, love, and compassion's grace.
Today, their new life begins. It is
Found within this chaos and mayhem.

The weary need rest and blankets too.
Offer an ear, a shoulder, or hand.
Be a friend whose empathy shares a
Teary smile and a speechless thank you.

Tonight I'm weary, this day's been long,
Inside my sad heart there's light and joy;
Today's pilgrims share the courage, of
America's sense of right -- that's strong.

My eyes close with a prayer on my lips,
Thankful that I am able to be,
One Volunteer making a difference
Helping some cope as they come to grips.

Park Run Getting Into Shape

Park run getting into shape

Thank you for the Park run,
They really are so much fun.

At Tring you go up a rise,
Then through a gate,
A little rooty and muddy surprise,
Before the welcome flat that’s great.

Then along the Ridge path covered in leaves,
Unlike the climb you can run with ease.
As you move along the Ridge, there’s lovely good news,
Through the multi coloured autumn leaves, you get fabulous views.

Soon, at the end you go downhill.
Arms out, almost flying, gives you a thrill.
Down, down, hear the Marshall cheer,
Except on Park run they are called volunteer.

Out onto the grassland, with a pant and maybe wheeze,
It’s refreshing hearing the wind whistle through the trees.

Down, then up carefully round the slippy hairpin bend.
The steadying Marshall, encouraging like a friend.

It’s open, other runners are friendly, as you go up and down,
When you’ve climbed up twice, round the bend and you’re homeward bound.

At bit more flat, then up the hill.
The finishing line is closer still.
Have you got a sprint left to the end?
Across the line you get chip time my friend.
It’s so well organised, there is no queue,
Come next Saturday morning you’ll know what to do.
It may be rain, obviously better in the sun.
But get out there, keeping fit, Enjoy the Park run.

PUBLIC MAIL

As I was reading Nyasatimes
Gazette on line
On January 10th , 2024
I saw the name
of Yao Kingdom Foundation
Portrayed badly
As written," differences have emerged
 in the once United
Yao tribe,
under Chiwanja Cha Yao ,
As a rebel
group has registered
a new tribal
organization Yao Kingdom Foundation."
Oh!
I became so excited
for their courage
to market us for free.
I did not mind
 the blackmail
I clapped my hands
because it was a public excellent mail
To all the nations.
I say thank you to Nyasatimes
publishing news.
How if you meet us
and collect a peaceful mail?
Is it wrong to volunteer
to help marginalized people?
I am so happy because
 there is no a Minister
                   of
                         Injustice in
             the
                         Country.
We are not a religious trustee
Either tribal.
None of our objectives
concerns a promotion
of a certain religion.
Remember that we have members
from different religions and tribes.
We invited some journalists
of Nyasatimes at some venues
and they could witness
the presence of some Chewa and Yao chiefs.
as I am
one of the top members
of Yao Kingdom foundation
I am not a Muslim
Either a Muyao
And I work so comfortable with others.
This is meaning ,
we are not :
- Religious,
- Political,
- Tribal,
  Either
- Rebel
As some jealous leaders
tried to label
Us.

Everyday Heroes

Everyday Heroes

Let’s talk about everyday Heroes
Ordinary people like you and I
People who do not always win
But are always willing to try.

People who go on everyday
Making a positive contribution to all
Doing their jobs as best they can
Standing proud, straight and tall

Firemen are unsung heroes
Braving the wicked smoke and flame
To save your lives and property
Their bravery always the same.

The policemen protect our vital laws
And puts criminals in jails
To save us all from constant danger
Their courage seldom fails.

Teachers educate our children all
To improve our future world
To read and write, subtract and add
The history of our nation we are always told.

The preachers of our local churches,
Masques, Synagogues ad Temples
Are always ready to listen and help
And teach us by example.

The doctors, nurses and volunteers
Keep our hospitals working hard
Saving lives and giving aide
Help is never very far.

Construction workers, engineers, scientists et al
Consultants, coaches, pilots and their crews
Soldiers, sailors and drivers in their trucks
All contribute to our nation by freely expressing their views.

Those who volunteer their time
To make this world a better place
Helping those in times of need
Regardless of creed or race.

They are our unsung heroes
Who always help us to find our way
Who deserve some recognition
Each and everyday

So raise your voices so you are heard
And praise your friends old and new
And thank your Lord high above
For unsung heroes like you!

Hard Hat Heroes

There's a breed of Aussie hero who has served this nation well
and they don a yellow uniform to face the fires of hell.
When day temperatures are soaring and the high winds blow a gust,
and our bushland is ignited it's in them we place our trust.
Yes, you're all somebody's daughter and you're all somebody's son;
you are mothers and you’re fathers. Hard hat heroes everyone.

When their mates are in the hot seat and they need a helping hand,
they will volunteer their services from stations 'cross this land.
Whether country towns or cities or a bush fire brigade;
they will gladly throw their hats in and will offer their mates aide.
Yes, you're all somebody's daughter and you're all somebody's son;
you are mothers and you’re fathers. Hard hat heroes everyone.

Do you owe your home or property, your very lives perhaps,
to the selfless, sincere efforts of these bold fire-fighting chaps?
Or still sadly you lost everything, but proudly can attest
to their fierce determination as each brave soul did their best.
Yes, you're all somebody's daughter and you're all somebody's son;
you are mothers and you’re fathers. Hard hat heroes everyone.

So I ask you all to join me as we stand and raise a glass
to the courage and the spirit of this fire fighting, class;
and I'm sure you'd love to join me as this message we impart,
"You're such true blue hard hat heroes and we thank you from the heart."
Yes, you're all somebody's daughter and you're all somebody's son;
you are mothers and you’re fathers. Hard hat heroes everyone.

Medals Around My Neck

This is a story that goes back some twenty years
To when with the Special Olympics I did volunteer
I worked with the older Olympians who were kind of rough
Caring for them by other volunteers was a job just too tough.

They were sixteen through eighteen and didn’t know their own strength
To keep them under control took me to mental and physical lengths
There were eight young men in my group this Olympic day
I was the only volunteer willing to work with them when the games got under way.

Keeping them together and where they were supposed to go
Required lots of cunning and running by this guy they called Coach Joe.
They worked me ragged and kept me at my wit’s end
But within the first hour we were all best of friends.

They liked to hug me and squeeze me and wrestle me to the ground
Always slugging me and hitting me every time I turned around
They were strong as an ox and didn’t know how easily they could hurt
I got bumps and bruises, one busted lip and was all covered in dirt.

As the medal ceremony began indicating the games were coming to an end
I was exhausted and spent and ready for my body to go home and mend
My Olympians got medals that made them all so happy and proud
They loved hearing the spectators cheering so wondrous and loud.

As I watched from the bench they gathered in a huddle
What were they up to now? I was a little befuddled
Then one by one they took their medals off and walked my way,
Placing them over my head; “Thank You, Coach Joe”, is what they would say.

Their parents and guardians had tears in their eyes
I’ve never been more touched by a simple surprise
Then we all held hands and the Olympic Song we did sing
For me, in my life, this was the sweetest of things.

Perspective

I found myself in darkened days
The forecast then was looking bleak
No matter how I tried it seemed
that I was on a losing streak

Well, losing may not be the word
but life had simply gotten dull
No light could ever penetrate
the gray clouds whirling in my skull

On one especially gloomy night
it was my turn to volunteer
serving meals inside a shelter
twice a month throughout the year

Then afterwards, while cleaning up
and nearly ready to go home
behind me spoke a tiny voice
the inspiration for this poem

This young black child standing there
of six years old, maybe seven
said to me "Thank you for coming"
which was spoken straight from heaven

He gave me such a loving smile
and then returned from whence he came
Choked up, I said "You're very welcome"
never asking for his name

While thinking of this little boy
as I drove home I shed some tears
as much for him as for myself
and all my empty wasted years

This precious one without a home
with no possessions to his name
had managed such a cheerfulness
which brought to me a sense of shame

This child opened up my eyes
and gave to me a needed dose
of cold perspective in the face
so now I hold my blessings close

All of which were right around me
all along, but I was blind
The things I thought that I had lost
that little boy had helped me find

Was that child heaven sent?
Perhaps an angel in disguise?
Whichever way I think of him
it brings a teardrop to my eyes

I pray for him from time to time
and never shall forget him, no
And when I'm very old and gray
my mind will find him smiling so

If I could speak to him once more
there's just one thing I'd like to say
"Thank YOU for coming, little friend,
you saved my life one darkened day"

My Dream With Faith's Anchor

I believe that with faith in God, nothing is impossible.*
This anchors my dream certainly devoid of disillusion...
Full of hope, I pray for a miracle
as the Lord favors according to His plan
or if He in His sovereign wisdom approves, in His time.

In my dream... this scenario is vividly captured: Waking me from my sweet slumber is my dear son with his eloquent “Good morning, mommy” greetings… Pulling me from bed, he props my hands for fervent prayer-gesture and then he communes with God, talking to Him sincerely seemingly oblivious of my presence. Then he reaches the Bible and reads expressively the third chapter of Proverbs, stressing verses 5 and 6, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” To my delight, he fixes himself up, not anymore seeking my aid for his hygienic endeavors, and in eating his meals. He enjoys school activities and church fellowships as he testifies gladly about his accomplishments concluding with “God is good to me.” Indeed, God is gracious for the wondrous might He has wrought in our special child who is diagnosed with global developmental delay. Stricken with cerebral palsy, he cannot walk; though he is now nine years old. He struggles everyday to communicate with others.
Now, fully awakened to reality’s truth, I thank God for enabling me to trust Him fully. As a volunteer social worker in our church orphanage I cherish God’s fortification of my faith while rearing and raising up, nourishing and nurturing our special child... with love from the Lord. *Mark 10:27 "And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible." I Cannot Forget Trayvon Martin Slain Teen

I cannot forget Trayvon Martin - slain teen

no matter manifold more young people
unthinkingly killed, who spirits aspire
to ascend higher than a steeple.

revisited and slightly revised today
March 14th, 2021.

One deliberate shameful death,
whose demise linkedin
violent cessation of breath
thank heavy gun wielding hand
innocuous thug disguised
as armed neighborhood watch
firearm brandished
as weapon of choice.

Once again rifling thru outdated drafts,
I unwittingly repost grievous bulletin
that made headlines nine plus years ago,
an innocent lad received fatal shot
into said unarmed teenager's chest
according to testimony
courtesy Doctor Vincent Di Maio.

Memory of aforementioned crime
relegated to dustbin of criminal minds
whereby dime a dozen killings
(nowadays barely register shock)
countless young persons
genetically bequeathed with
healthy dose of melanin
gunned down during their prime.

George Zimmerman (then age 28)
ought to be pitched into the
alligator and crocodile infested Everglade
for his senseless killing (outright murder)
of Trayvon Martin slammed
as involved some illicit wick kid trade
(a slender African American
more precisely youth flush with color
only 17 years young -

(birthdate - February 5th, 1995
death date - February 26th, 2012),
whose martyrdom grows
as days/weeks fade
an exemplary gregarious helpmate
swimming against the tide
to make the grade
now slain while just a youth -
the unfounded killing
by a neighborhood watch volunteer,

who felt afraid
that this dark skinned young man
appeared suspicious pulled the trigger
with comeuppance to be paid
though -- no retribution can restore
lifeless body, still
agitated waters nor offer shade
from the justifiable media frenzy
sparked from Geraldo Rivera made

even with unanimous
approval of guillotine blade
for violence cannot only rejuvenate
a promising future
evinced by Trayvon Martin
reincarnated into tree or leaf blade
but only serves to beget subsequent
violence now unto his grave
said teenager laid!

Connecting with Your Deepest Self

This year 2024 is an opportunity to reflect on the previous year past and set new goals for the next 12 months ahead. We must always look back at all the important work that has been accomplished and how we want to build on that moving forward, but we also must begin brainstorming about what will be new and different in our lives for the next 12 months.
None of what we do would be possible without our trust in the Lord. He gives great resources of favor and ideas as we put our trust in Him.
In 2023 as we look back at the story of our lives of missing the mark of what God gave us to overcome the trap the enemy place before us. That’s why I personally will not make any New Year Resolution, but work on the old.

“You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.” All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”(Matthew 22:37–40)
It is about connecting to who you are already and living your life according to that which God has placed within you. Those moments, when we open ourselves consciously to what we actually feel and long for, are very powerful. And I personally believe that is what He has placed deep down inside of us from the beginning.
Note: Do your own research of what the below points mean to you and you will find the solution to your questions concerning your lives.
I believe that the Scriptures will answer ALL your questions:
1. Focus on your goals, values and beliefs...
2. Keep a journal to help you express your deepest thoughts and feelings…
3. Read inspiring stories or essays to unearth insights and philosophies that can enrich your life…
4. Be open to new experiences. ...
5. Look at what's good in yourself and others…
6. Develop the courage to face your fears. …
7. Define and embrace your strengths. …
8. Practice, practice, and practice mindfulness. …
9. Volunteer in help others…

I call this ‘Connecting With Your Deepest Self’.
Note: If I listed anything incorrect, thank you for your correction.
