Thought of the Day

We recall not the breaths gone by
Why then do desires make heart sigh
Making us a dead man walking
Can we not kiss ego goodbye

Dog Day Endure

Hark! Wispy ghost of Indian summer is in sight,
Fresh on our amorous teenage heels, slow dog day night,
Hot Iowa corn on a cob, fresh with sweet oozing butter.
Makes autumn’s imminent encroachment seem all right.

Listen! Horizon Beach is quiet, most summer people gone.
They have raced back to civilization to put their city on.
Fishy smells, unappreciated until May of next year,
Gritty sandcastles destroyed, children’s laughter, a summer con.

Sh! Just stay here, my love, and give me a well-deserved smile,
Pretend summer passions will last me for a good long while.
Sweetest lips, eyes of brown, your gaze coaxes my soul-heart.
I will savor you and this moment in my life’s memory file.

Varoom. Your Harley motorcycle revs up, arrogant and proud.
Warm air cools, rapidly, swooped up by a semi-angry cloud.
Fleeting summer dog days cannot be held, fading hard and fast.
Final desperate summer goodbye, unfathomed, but truly allowed.

Revelation

Revelation…

How do I know that what is divine?
What does he do now? I need a sign.
I am uncertain what the truth is,
All the prophets or a mouth full of wine.

I am like a fish; live in a bowl.
To live in the sea it is my goal.
What if the bowl is the sea I seek?
The sea and I are one as a whole.

How can I trust you on such and such?
How can you feel it without a touch?
Eyes are so blinded; how can you see?
Your blessed divine is much too much.

I am a divine as good as him.
Once, I was shining, now old and dim.
I did not come from Adam and Eve,
I live in a bowl, ready to swim.

If you want to find it, go within.
Break your cage and let your life begin.
All it is is good and all divine.
We are here to play and not to win.

If the thing you seek is everywhere,
How can you see it is here and there?
The books were all written long ago,
Is there a divine? I do not care.

Maybe my darkness lights up the world.
I hope that our world will shine like gold.
No more killing that, what divine is,
What that I had said had to be told.

I will live my life ready to fly.
I'll be part of Earth the day I die.
There is no heaven; there is no hell.
When the time is here, I’ll say goodbye.

Summer Days Endure

Our Labor Day has come and gone, and now
it's back to school for kids, and yet somehow,
          most think our summertime has bid goodbye;
but it has weeks ahead to shine, endow.

Our eyes can see green leaves still on the trees;
more time for walks in parks and picnic sprees.
The sun is warm most days, and nights still lend
more daylight hours for fun that we can seize.

Oh, days of summertime, your stay's cut short
by our assumed events that must abort
'earth's calendar' to acquiesce with needs
in planning our lifestyles, which do distort

dear nature's timetable of seasons' bliss,
when warm, delightful days we do dismiss,
because our mindset is to move along
ahead of time, not caring what we miss.

By end of our July, the stores are filled
     with Halloween, Thanksgiving...overkilled.
No wonder our minds shift to autumn scenes,
and summer days lay waiting, unfulfilled.

'Haste does make waste', a classic adage says.
Let's stop, enjoy each season, it's full phase.
Our summer is a gem bestowed by earth...
its wonder does shine thru September days.

Fond Remembrances

Start
My dearest mother I miss you so much
As a baby I yearned for your delicate touch
May you be happy wherever you are
I always feel your presence as such

I know your dwelling now is very far
At night I see it as a twinkling star
Overshadowed by the brightness of the moon
But unlike the moon there is no scar

As a child you fed me with the spoon
I outgrew that stage very soon
Your embrace was wrapped in love
Which gave me comfort and was a boon

Your bickering was like the song of a dove
Your threats were delivered with a kid glove
Like when you threatened to twitch my ear
I ran out of reach on to the terrace above

Memories linger on through the years
I felt secure in this world without any fears
Images of you I shall treasure always
Who would guide me and dry my tears?

In the morning during those happy days
As my bed was engulfed by the sun’s rays
I was woken with a gentle caress and a kiss
And told to be an early bird which always pays

Life was easy, carefree and full of bliss
There was ne’er a moment I would like to miss
I looked up at the birds and wished to fly
High in the sky and look down into the abyss

If only I was there for that last goodbye
I would have embraced you, without a sigh
Deep in my heart you will ever be near
My beautiful angel from the heavenly sky

Can you see our plight, my mother dear?
So far away, our wails you cannot hear
Life clings agonizingly to the body in a clutch
Violence and killings keep us in constant fear

End
