Most Don'T Wanna Know

People say they do,
but most really don’t
People say they will,
but push come to shove
most really won’t
People say they can ... they say it all the time;
but most can’t stomach the bad news,
the horrible truths
People say they like
hearing others speak their mind
As long as you ain’t talking about their faults,
you can keep sharpening the ax to the grind
People say they don’t like being lied to —
well, my Rip Van Winkle friends,
you’ve been on a snooze
Just listen to the latest spin podium news
Hearing lies being told everyday,
going drip ... drip ... drip
This form of torture is acceptable to some
Putting the truth on a cold metal rack,
then make it flip ... flip ... flip
Medieval examinations are needed to get the job done
This is what alternate fact handlers tell you
But most don’t wanna know
this is what the government do,
they say, to help protect you
Most don’t wanna know
Most don’t wanna hear
Most don’t wanna see
But the truth of the matter is,
they’re doing some things that are pretty ugly
The government is gonna trot out somebody
to tell you otherwise
Propaganda is an old, patented tried-and-true technique:
feed the people lies
Tell ‘em what they wanna hear
to make ‘em feel good
While behind the scenes, it’s business as usual ...
wink and a nod understood
Most people don’t wanna know
about that
The things they say are going swingingly alwhite,
is really going pitch black
