She sits upright smiling
With small talk prepared
A tear in one eye
Running fingers through her hair
Pride for her husband
Pride for her son
Pride for her home
For herself exists none
Admired, adored, respected
With knives in her back
She hides the longing
For the happiness she lacks
Mental persecution
Overpowers her positivity
But somehow she finds strength
To sit upright smiling

Having everyone fooled
And def to her internal cry...

|
A candle burns, for who tonight?

The new mad author
& A poetry soup honourably mentioned poet!
Its power is just a tiny flame.
It lights the darkness of the night.
Many sometimes then are lit.
Their light brightens where you live.
Some are lit to share our woes.
When lives are lost they are, you know.
That’s a sad time for all I say.
As those candles can’t light our way.
In church, the Advent candle is lit.
Proclaims the Christ child doesn’t it?
Peace on earth, goodwill to men!
Will we ever see that peace again?
I hope no roadside candle you do light.
I pray no more lives are lost alright.
I know they will, as all do not pray.
If all were true Christian no lives would they slay.
As all are not of one faith I say.
Fighting will go on until that last day.
And when your last breath stops you know.
A candle will be lit for you just so.
May its glow guide your spirit high?
To that place we go when we die.
Let that candle give your spirit light.
So you rest in Paradise that’s right.

The day I saw you, I was made to understand that I am naive,
My long gown with a hair tie that looks like that of Magdalena I was wearing was said to be archaic,
Come out from the dark I heard like a Pentecostal pastor talking to a catholic Christian,
I wanted to stop being a Jew-man,
I needed them to stop calling me John,
I left my gown for a miniskirt, oh this is my first time,
The curve of my hip showed and they said she is hot ??,
To make me a hot girl I have to put on a top shirt that shows my breasts,
Or a spaghetti hand,
This is the first time I feel belonged,
Each year comes different package,
We have seen trousers which looks like an old okirika, tartared from the leg down,
This is how you made us look like mad people,
Oh you fashion, styling us into hell,
To the boys, you made them half naked, when they try to sag their trousers,
You brought leggings trousers that made us carry waterproof or lather like a woman selling grandnut in other wear you off,
You have caused that some of our girls are raped,
You have made many great men of God to be seduced,
You have made us see what should be protected,
Nothing is no longer covered under the sun, everything lies bare,
Tell us what you are turning us into?
What is the next of your styles?
I know one day you will make us go naked ??in your name,
But please allow me to pass out from this phase before you carry out your next notch.

Who are you
Determined, fun loving, beautiful
You are strong willed
and I can never bear to see you give up
I have one thing to say to life
YOU SUCK!
I apologize but it boils under my skin
to witness a woman who has done everything she could
to survive and protect the ones she loves
be stabbed in the heart by betrayal
from a heartless twisted sergeant of evil forces
taking the name of her husband
steal her heart from chest
create a little locket as gift
to give to someone else and call it his
I got news for him too
'YOU CAN JUMP IN A SEA FULL OF SHARKS'
A godly person she has become
or has always been
it's something I can respect
it's something I can stand behind
but the Christian faith still puzzles me
I guess that's one thing I've never had
for they say God will never throw anything at you
that you can't take and coop with
yet he's thrown so many stones at her glass house
still I must admit I have rarely seen her smile fade
even if it fades, she can borrow mine
I smile enough for ten suns whenever I see her
like a five year old boy
smiles and stares at his first girl friend
just a tad cute but a bit embarrassing
I could go on and on with flattering compliments
but she has already heard most flow from my tongue
so here I say words of encouragement
words I have never said
so she will never give up
so when it hits Sunday
she'll have everything to gain and nothing to lose
