April Showers

April Showers (Anacreontic Verse)

Putting the blame
on global warming
winter felt the pinch
rain was scarce
and spring arrived
lamenting its luck
unable to twirl
in habitual gown
of green satin
shyly tiptoeing
keeping a low
profile, feeling blue;
the wind intervened
encouraged her
with soothing words
to wait patiently;
dark clouds came
and April showers
quenched thirsting soil;
spring breathed
in relief, able
to look ahead
in the knowledge
that May would
come, parading
delightful flowers
in abundance!

The Brilliant Spring

Crazy wind whispers
Into the ears of ‘champa’
A light scented Indian flower
Trees are full of them now
Your love in each and every bough

The breeze is cool
Because it is spring
Because it is south wind
Because everywhere is hue
Because it is warm with you

Blue hills and green plains
My room at sixes and sevens
Red bellied wood peckers drumming
Rhythm in feet nimble
Your twinkling eyes with dimple

Our roads are tremendously red
Ashok Palash and Gulmohar
They call it flame-of-the-forest
Love in red supreme
With you in extravagant dream

Books in eloquently colorful blurb
Beauty steps in every curve
Invitation in every nerve
The spring below and spring above
Your healing love

Goes away alas the days
Of dance in soul in warm sun rays
Goes away your ocean gaze
Life in a twilight haze
Your beautiful craze

Ah if I could have turned the clock
Holding your hand in a Gulmohar walk
Only our hands and feet would talk
Around the clock arm in arm
In your beauty and charm

Alas that is not to be a thing
Our time is as short as the spring

While You Sleep

While you sleep I tell you all of the things I keep inside throughout day.
Now that you can hear but not listen I find them much easier to say.
My hopes, my dreams, my fears, and everything in between
Your subconscious hears so keen, or so it seems.
My tongue is soft; I speak so sweetly
Knowing your reaction will never greet me.

Tonight will be different in what I want you to know.
It has everything to do with what I can’t help but show.
I hold no claim to any religion but you’ve given me a place for my faith.
Somewhere it will never stale or lose its lavish taste.
You’ve shown me something I can see, touch, and feel,
And so before it I choose to kneel.

I know I don’t say it but I miss you every day.
Sitting, thinking of the perfect words to be my choice,
Yet when you call I can’t find any of the right words to say.
I’m just happy to finally hear your voice.
Even just a moment is enough to sooth my heavy heart;
Fearing the ends of conversations knowing we’ll have to part.

I’ll never be too far from you, always within arm’s reach,
And in your days of darkness I’ll be the light that you will seek.
I’ll never let you leave too far from me, I’ll stay close behind you in this world;
Secretly protecting what is mine, you will always be my girl.
I only want the best for you so the best of me I will employ.
Faithfully yours, I will always be your boy.

I close my eyes and kiss your soft sweet lips
And see the very best of you in loving bliss.
I see past the physical which makes you attractive
And focus on the things I can’t see in which I’m attracted.
Your thoughts I’d love to hear them all.
Of the things you speak disinterest never makes its call.

My day will come, I know someday I’ll be the only one.
And you I will pursue viciously,
Because I’ve given you the greatest gift I can give, to love unconditionally.
Yes our day will come, I know someday we’ll be as one.
And you I will pursue viciously,
Because I’ve given you the greatest gift I can give… to love unconditionally.

Anacreontic Verse Winter has now passed, tears drip from the sky grey clouds hide the blue it’s raining! I cry. April showers bring us welcomed rain, our garden’s thirst is quenched again. Vibrant crocuses of yellow and blue peer through the soil. Daffodils dance in the warm spring breeze, their golden pollen may make you sneeze! Terrific tulips delight us bursting with jewelled colours of purple, pink and red. Cherry blossom falls on a zephyr breeze, resembling pretty pink wedding confetti falling from the trees. lovers eyes

Not long ago our destinies aligned
and of all the people it had to be you
your fragrance in the wind is left behind
as you walked by as i held the door for you
we wined and dined and hoped to outshine
the glittering stars of the night

you came at me in the midnight and held my hand
with no constrains you took me away
hand in hand amongst the sleepless souls
Side by side through the half empty streets of mainz
our brilliance playful act of love felt so alive

Sitting down spacing out to thoughts and memories of you
uncertainty overshadows every dream of you

piggyback rides and lingering goodbyes
of the same mind tonight i hope we could be two
mesmerised by the sparks between our eyes
passionately yielding to this sensation you and i shared
with fastened lips and no words to spare
the essence of love was in the air in a surreal like dream
time stood still for you and me

Sitting down spacing out to thoughts and memories of you
uncertainty overshadows every dream of you

an unseen dramatic contraction
of what seemed to be a lasting attraction
Unanswerable questions are left in wander
Unquestionable answers are left to ponder
Words of love and poesy used to quickened you
bittersweet traces is all that I now leave you

Silence is all that remained that only a wonder can break
To enlighten your heart and brighten your smile like a summers day is my aim

Brilliant Month Of April

Upon the stand at the entrance of our home I find a new vase.
Beside it a box full of yellow and red Daisies laying upon a bed
of Sweet peas.
As I look for the card there amongst the flowers I find a little
maroon box.
I open the box to find yet another brilliant diamond which I may
have set into a ring, pendant, or another jewelry piece.
My present from my hubby of my birthstone and flowers to
celebrate my birth on April 7th each year.
All come together with the card that reads "I love you more each year"
Your hubby Don

April Showers

April Showers April showers… so welcomed when our winter's gone and done. Snow dissolved into the ground to now await the springtime sun. Trees lift up dry resting limbs, wait for water to awake their dormant curled up buds... thirst-quenching gift they take. April showers bring new flowers sustenance to help them grow; hydrated soil, nutrients seep into their new life flow. Before our eyes blooms unfold… their lovely scene! April showers majestically fulfill spring's dream. Sandra M. Haight ~2nd Place~ Contest: Anacreontic Verse 3 Sponsor: Edward Ebbs Theme: April Showers May Bring Flowers Judged: 04/27/2016

The Call of Spring

The birds sit on the willow;
The sun peeps from the sky.
Downstream the noisy rivers flow,
And busy ants scurry by.

A butterfly with rainbow color
Runs wildly as a vine -
Passing o're the flowers
In paths of strange designs.

The flower trees are bending:
Smiling to the rain.
Gigantic trees are mending;
And summer dawns again.

April Showers Sun and Flowers

Anacreontic Verse

I sit silent
within this moment
Not knowing
If you are willing
To touch me
in a way
that truly matters
For I need you
To caress my skin
For it has been
a long winter
of wanting
My skin glistens
April fresh
showered clean
for this reunion
Within my longing
My spirit knows
You don't sense my need
Although you feel close
There is a distance
Around your red glow
I feel sad blue
Please tell me
Why you keep hiding
Please break through dark clouds
gift me your yellow
Kiss me now
So that I "May" bloom!

                             The Apple PASTURE

Oh how I long
To drift into the apple pasture.
Were once was and all well meet.
A pure and dear site.
Where silver reflection cover the still waters that holds the golden
grains of morality and the grazing souls lie young amounce no stars.
Oh how I long
To drift into the apple pasture
Were winds smell of melon and the trees whisper spring corals in the mellow dark and best of light and time creeps into no tomorrow.

Tender sprinkles
drizzles of vigor
April grants
roots of life
entwined seedlings
buds a bloomin'
Spring flourishes
slivers of sun
pansies sprout
splendid day lilies
peak with desire
unknown beauty
lying beneath
earth's tilted axis
eager to blend
May penetrates
mother nature
with her seasons
new life awoken
merging blossoms
pink lilies adored
daisies of yellow
florets embraced
alluring scents
stunning white roses
a lovely gift
for my sweetheart

I watch the sky begin to fill,
with clouds that roll and pitch until,
all Heaven seems so black and bleak,
then lightning makes a sudden streak,
and blows the southwind to its will.

The air so fresh it brings a high,
as I breath in the falling sky,
and darkened, all of space now seems,
engulfed in thundering that screams,
and makes the world think it could die.

The first raindrops now hit the ground,
the joy of it is all around,
each budding leaf breaks through its pain,
now free to come out in the rain,
and here is love that's seldom found.

Now falling fast and falling free,
blown in the wind that has to be,
the rain sets in and for the night,
a steady rhythm--cool and light,
and lulls to sleep the deep of me.

April Showers

Anacreontic verse

These April showers
will drown the flowers
and drive the tourists
all away.
The rainclouds hover.
They run for cover
and wish they'd waited
for a day.
But if thy stay for
only an hour,
they'll find that this
was just a shower.
It is for certain
we'll raise the curtain,
on fields of tulips
in bright array.
But April showers
are good for flowers.
Come back to see us
in sunny May.

felt like i did before thats how i know i missed ya
if i could then i woulda grabbed ya hugged and kissed ya
bachelor for eternity missing the bigger picture
you i barely knew, appearing on every vista
i appreciate the support, but what i need is love
tho truth may hurt, better than all of the above
i trusted you cause you represent something ive never done,
who knew that two can prove to be better than one or
first in a place, never won a sum,
bygones gone and a couple of puns
we let the honey run till sweet enough touch
beat around the bush, no rush
it got hotter but the wetaher didnt change
not a cloud in the sky or a drop of blame
no need for a why whenw e had an x
we gotta where we wanted then decided what next

no matter where i go
over land and sea
id rather have you cause one is lonely
keep me company
three not necessary
feels real comfy
has since february

february march april may june july august in a day
the longer we go the more we grow
feeling better each step of the way

if theres a problem we can talk and double check
nothing we cant solve with an embrace and kiss to the face or neck
i love you more than ode and penelope. maria odb
or lil kim and biggie
thank the gods we aint in a greek tragedy
or sometime before 19 sixty
for what is feminin
sent me to my questionin
i quickly collected evidence, respect
exactly what i expected, experiencing the extension
my seconds, perspective as my lessons
i remember when im stressing
to fit into my senses, lower my defenses
soothing if theres tenseness, leaving room for suggestion
did i mention that youre precious
a gift of personal appreciation, when we regard eachother
in highest celebration shared by lovers, so more than any i thank you
for willing to get as close as you do
i hope for you the complimentary is true
im sure if it wasnt we can talk it through its coo
right there is reason why i call you boo

no matter where i go
over land and sea
id rather have you cause one is lonely
keep me company
three not necessary
feels real comfy
has since february

the longer we go the more we grow

A Peaceful Sight

I sit among the audience of my thoughts
Upon a chair
With my feet up high casually on a table
My senses, my breath, my heart rate is stable
Silence at this very moment is my mind’s favorite labor
The leaves they sway from side to side
so graciously, it is my favorite sight
Beside me,
The cherking of birds is my morning cup of delight
In front of me,
The rattle of the clear crystal pool is the depth and constancy of a single thought
The clear blue sky is my happy tomorrow
On my face you will find no trace of sorrow
Such a peaceful sight I see
If only you could bare witness with me
To such a glorious and heavenly sight
Like A picture perfect,
Or a beautiful view in Peru
The glorious nature has set me at ease
I am calmed by the steady breeze
Yet the buzzing of my cousin
Is like the sound of a busy bee
She speaks to me of heartache and despair
And the death of some distant loved one
She makes a noble and noteworthy declaration
To give me a kidney if mine decides to collapse
I smile at her with this carefree sensation
As I sit there typing and pretending to care
Tapping my fingers to a rhythm while unaware
Smiling a genuine smile and sighing a pretentious sigh
You want me to speak of wickedness and of madness
At this moment I am indifferent, oblivious, I genuinely Do Not Care
The quacking of a random duck
Came casually as pure luck
Lazily I yawn, so dazed, and simply amazed
 I am hypnotized
At this sight that left me mesmerized.

For Bruce Springsteen

for bruce springsteen...

it was a rain-swept monsoon day

way back then, so many moons away

when i felt the music strumming in my veins

setting me free like a runaway horse without any reins

you sang of simple truths,

your verse spoke to people just like me

in my lonely, wasted, and desolately quiet night

as you screamed out tragic human wrongs, and of everyone's plight

'bobby jean' spoke to me

of that girl down the street

glimpses of whom, we as innocents would furtively meet

and 'the river' that flowed through my ever-barren heart

led me down further roads of thunder

when slowly i finally learnt that the hardest part was fighting on

and never to surrender

to the hard-luck dreams that were born to run

while i danced in the dark

with memories vivid and stark

even as i whined like that dog who for forever lost his howling bark

and then a 'human touch' came along

and 'better days' seemed real, not just words in a song

and still you sang and swayed and spoke straight into my unseeing eyes

as gardens of secrets were opened, and as your fist punched the skies

in an anger that i too felt and in whose cauldron i too burned

as we saw murder get incorporated, while on its wobbly axis, our fragile world apathetically turned

and then suddenly i was told that i was all grown up

working on a highway of scattered ideals

and absolving myself by sprinkling some coins in a waiting cup

well, after all these years of walking along so many a thorny road

with an armour of your verse covering me, even as i hear them taunt me and even as they continue to goad

but now i can feel myself fading away, into the bleakness of this coming night

just like the ghost of that old tom joad...

April Rose

April Rose, so beautiful and she knows it.
Her heart is blessed by God, her smile is made so perfect.
Her face brings this light to life, it saves my very existence.
Her little hugs and kisses tug at my heart strings and i cannot resist it.
Her eyes so blue, i fall deep into them so endlessly.
Completely lost without her by my side to laugh and play.
My every breathing moment relies on her to stay.
Her wild free spirit, her love's so sweet.
These simple little things make my heart beat.
I am comforted by the sounds of her pitter pattering feet.
April Rose, i hope you know, you are my heart, my life, my soul....

April Fool

April 1st, sometimes called All Fools' Day, is one of the most light-hearted days of the year. Its origins are uncertain. Some think it as a celebration related to the turn of the seasons, while others believe it stems from the adoption of a new calendar. 'Joseph Boskin, a professor of history at Boston University explained that the practice began during the reign of Constantine, when a group of court jesters and fools told the Roman emperor that they could do a better job of running the empire. Constantine, amused, allowed a jester named Kugel to be king for one day. Kugel passed an edict calling for absurdity on that day, and the custom became an annual event.

"In a way," explained Prof. Boskin, "it was a very serious day. In those times fools were really wise men. It was the role of jesters to put things in perspective with humor."

This explanation was brought to the public's attention in an Associated Press article printed by many newspapers in 1983. There was only one catch: Boskin made the whole thing up. It took a couple of weeks for the AP to realize that they'd been victims of an April Fools' joke themselves.'

Whatever the explanation April Fools' Day is observed throughout the Western world. Practices include sending someone on a "fool's errand," looking for things that don't exist; playing pranks; and trying to get people to believe ridiculous things.

It certainly is an excellent subject for a folk song.

April Showers Bring May Flowers

Touches the heart
when it starts
i love petrichor
breeze is blowing
pollens flowing
reaching inner core

	              Month of showering
	              next is flowering
	              thrill is palpable
	              tulips waiting
	              top on rating
	              scarlet markable

Spring is singing
love is bringing
drizzling tiny drops
both are dancing
love enhancing
until shower stops

	              Month is floral
	              love is moral
	              story april may
	              healing wounds
	              raining sound
	              like a morning pray

Droplets shining
end of whining
moment flowers bloom
chorus stands
colorful lands

Sucking the gentle light from the sun
 fresh grasses
Spring is awaking sleepy universe.
Buds are smiling,
Sky is turquoise
How a fairy this morning is?
Pure waterfall in the middle of green garden
Willow slowly brushes hairs down.
Tulip is shaming on her hairless
It looks like a picture
Some painter made well-known.
When daybreak calls me into garden
When the nature strews all her gold,
When morning dews kiss flowers,
Believe me! I’m the richest one in the world.
Because now this land and sky is mine
I swim away on steamy white clouds.
Smoothes my hairs lovely wind,
Singing a song, in pleasant notes.
In minutes it gets off. Alas my dear
Soon sun shines and comes up to the sky
Having lost their chance of being here,
Sleeping on their beds millions of you guy.

May flowers -anacreontic verse 3

Anacreontic verse 3

the sun was shining,
hair looked good
dress was pristine
heart was light.
friends wedding day,
red roses perfume
filled the church.
time for the photos,
forced smile in place.
all was going well
until I felt rain,
don't worry
just a shower,
some bright spark said.
a clap of thunder
filled the air,
the heavens opened.
we were all soaked
drowned rats came to mind,
then a cheery voice
declared that saying,
April showers bring
forth may flowers.
not sure who hit him
could have been the bride
I am sure the
bouquet looked askew.
one more picture
all looking drenched
best one in album

April Showers Bring May Flowers

Anacreontic Verse

Spring rain comes
dancing on ground
it seeps through
cracks of dry land
heals the wounds
and buds bloom
	Raw rain drops
	stay quiet on leaves
	and dribble on
	nest beneath where
	love birds swing
	enjoy the patter
Brave breeze opens
red tulip buds
sunrays give kiss
they feel shy and
bend towards wet
shade of trees
	Bluebirds sing
	the tune of spring
	I calmly listen
	and miss grandma
	who used to keep
	grains for hungry birds

The Tansy and the Tarragon

The tansy and the tarragon are sprouting in the lawn;
I can smell their pungent fragrance in the dewy after-dawn.
The crocus and the daffodils are prancing up the hill;
their dresses all a-shimmer and their bodies never still.
The happy little bluebird is flitting all about
to find the perfect property to hang his shingle out.
The tulip swords are shining in the early morning sun,
and I thought I saw Br'er Rabbit havin' him some rhubarb fun.
It's spring and spring is glorious; brings the child right out of me.
makes me want to dance at midnight beneath budding apple trees.

Anacreontic Verse

Raindrops fall
Flowers bloom
Red tulip
Delights sight
Bride and groom
Wedding rite
Yellow as
The bright sun
Shine in the

Pink orchids
As a gift
In mother's

And the birth

April Showers Bring May Flowers Anacreontic Verse

With loving drops
from heavens lap
greyness fades
from every view
In its place
color, born to sing
shines in verse
to natures music
sounds of triumph
are heard above
raindrops patter
Reds, yellows, lilacs
smile timidly
into the blueness
of their mothers breast
With Mays arrival
a golden father
looks down with
beaming pride
to see his
children at play,
nestled in new warmth
and to new

Thoughts That Think

Was thinking long and hard about giving up writing.
Convinced myself that I'm a quitter and there's no sense in fighting
To keep the only thing that kept me far from the edge
But I can't pretend.
Pretend that it isn't my Fortress of Solitude
That's honoured me with solemn servitude.
That it hasn't helped put me to rest, thought and mind,
By accepting the past on paper and keeping it close behind.

I was thinking logically and analytically
Because it seems to be the only thing I'm good at.
Thinking about everything I've seen and everyone I've fought to keep,
They're all gone now, only to be found in memories.
They say Poets and Artists are the architects of Heaven
And only they know it's the hardest when no one buys what they're selling.
No one wants to listen and no one wants to see
Because everyone's so sure of what you're supposed to be.

But what are you supposed to do when you've dedicated your life to understanding?
When you can empathize with your brother, but your own sight you can't stand it.
When you feel that there's a missing piece and so the wholes hurting.
Swim out long past the reef and any safety that you keep to do some soul searching.
Days and months fighting fears, love and tears, digging the hard soil.
Only to find that missing piece you desperately seek is hidden deep beneath.
When you've found the straw that broke the Camels back
Only to find there's a million more underneath.

What are you supposed to do when you follow the chains
Long past the plains in hopes to break the link.
Kill the ties that bind and have held you for so long,
Only to find there is no ball, you were free all along.
And in your days of darkness with no life to sip or sup
All the hands around your back were never meant to keep you up
And all of those who have kept you down will fight to keep you dancing to their beat.
Any impenetrable man once stabbed in the heart, will crumble with defeat.

The Flower Season-Anacreontic Verse

Although flowers
have fully bloomed,
there's scarce sunshine,
only rain showers
fall on them for hours.
The red hyacinths
which are cold and sad,
lament bright sunrays;
April is still cool,
spruces flutter over
the red pansies
and yellow tulips.
The sun can't break
through, it still covers
the willows with rain,
while the blue lilacs
gleam with raindrops.
The fragrant roses
drip and wait for
the butterflies
and honeybees
that hide in spruces;
beautiful insects
spring forth and fly
into the cloudless
April sky so blue.

The last hour

It's not by mighty nor by power
these are the end time days things are turning sour
I heard the voice of God in the shower
let my people repent this the hour

Turn to me am a strong tower
to hold your life and this is our
own chance to gain eternity
for the Lord is the God of no partiality

I see a way is open on a rough road
but I ask myself, am I really called
my bones are shaking as of am feeling cold
fear around me forgot what I was even told

all the silver and the gold
belongs to me thus says the Lord
It's written by His strips we are healed
and the power of the holy ghost we are filled.

April Showers Bring May Flowers- for Anacreontic Verse 3

Anacreontic Verse 3

Cool crystal raindrops
scrolled down the palm leaves
swishing and drooling
over sloping eaves
The scarlet lilies
reddening their cheeks
bugled open to
the bees tranquilly
snoring in their hives
under painted roofs
Last eve I sat in
the shady arbour
enjoying the rain
playing salsa with
these blooming girls in
crimson skirts in a
signature scented
floral studio
painting hues of red
