Try

Try to live
Try to feel pain with no tears
Try to remember years past and often lost
Try, oh try to know life need not be cold as frost

Ear not the words of those proclaiming silence
Listen to the rhythmic melody; give voice to a new start
The world will follow when you sing from your heart
Believing in things that some may only try

Try, to see, the truth is musical to you and all of thee
Telling histories with music, as soothing as can be
When you sing, and when you inspire our romance
Ones on crutches, they too shall rise and dance

Try, I beg
To see as eye
Even the ear is lost in the sky
Purest of hearts, they never die

Callused Fingers

Callused fingers press vibrating strings,
drawing passion from a violin.
And with burnished wood snug to his cheek,
the violinist plays from its heart.

Subtle vibes saturate my being,
as crying strings elicit feelings.
And expounding on love’s betrayal,
music stirs the imagination.

His bow hangs like a lingering kiss,
savoring the taste of ecstasy.
And then with tears trickling down his cheek,
he unleashes unbridled fervor.

Experiencing pangs of rapture,
sound slips the bonds of reality.
And as each note penetrates my heart,
it ignites flames of fire and passion.

Ghost Valentine

An old house I am led to -it is the symbol of Memories in cobwebs - like those of old lost love. A storehouse for so many things buried in my mind. I open up its creaking door to see what I might find. Lovely notes of music come wafting down its stairs So poignant is its melody that my poor heart tears. It brings to me the image of one afternoon When I walked with someone in summer by the dune. I listen to the tickling of the ivory Picturing two people splashing each other by the sea. The music now is drifting to me soft and low. I see the setting sun. We’re bathed in crimson glow. Beautifully and slowly the notes keep being played. In the arms of my old love rhythmically I’m swayed. The keys of the piano now are pounding fast. In the moonlight he and I are making love at last. Finally the keys are played as if they were caressed. And a bitter sweetness swells within my breast. Slowly creeping up the stairs I go to learn the truth. Who has played this long-time buried memory of youth? On the old piano’s bench, I see an imprint lies, And I think I can hear my phantom lover’s sighs. Dear ghost valentine, will you please return And play again that melody of love for which I yearn? For the Sexy Surreal Poetry Contest of Lewis Raynes

Your Favorite Song - You and Me

Oh that’s you and me

“You and me were always with each other,
before we knew the other was ever there”

Destiny carves its path through lives,
filling needs unknown until it happens
Bridging gaps of empty terrain
where love belongs eventually
as our hearts wait for that one we feel
on the journey

“You and me we belong together,
just like a breath needs the air”

So many comparisons play,
moving pieces to spaces, uncovered
Sliding down chutes, climbing ladders,
sensing that something waits, something good
Inspired to keep going, following the lines
drawn in tingles on skin

“I told you if you called I would come runnin’,
across the highs the lows and the in betweens”

You’ve taken my hand and showed me
things are not always as they seem
Until you find them in your shadow,
lifting you when you fall,
caressing your soul in unexplained notions,
safety and comfort with merely a touch

“You and me we’ve got two minds that think as one
and our hearts march to the same beat”

Your eyes, my eyes, we see similar patterns
curving about skylines of melodic tempos
As we walk together, one step after the other,
but two steps always for the other
in whatever direction they choose,
syncopated movements hand in hand

”They say everything it happens for a reason,
you can be flawed enough but perfect for a person”

These scars of past seasons, cold winds blow
across arid deserts of details and misgivings
Cloaked in love’s blanket, accepted beyond yesterdays
Put away in box with a lock, no key is available
and neither would want it anyway

”Someone who will be there for you when you fall apart,
guiding your direction when you’re riding through the dark”

This light that leads, from your smile, your understanding,
your acceptance that I reflect back as a mirror
Enhancing the beam of this forever feeling,
Strolling down avenues of pleasure for
happiness is always a two way street

”Oh that’s you and me…”

We Danced Through Life

We danced amongst the stars that night
when joy had fallen far from sight

We danced under the sun so bright
And when all seemed lost, we held on tight

We danced to the music of hummingbirds
And we danced in the silence when there were no words.

We danced in the shadows of fear and doubt
And we danced when we questioned what life’s about

We danced amongst the evergreens
That posed for painters winter scenes.

We danced in the winters bitter chill
And when we danced our world stood still.

For that’s what love was meant to be
To find the dance when we cannot see.

To write a new song when the music stops
With lyrics that caress every tear that drops.

For when the rhythm changes and tempo slowed
We’re called to dance with the seeds we sowed.

For life is hard, there is no doubt
But Dancing through it, is what life’s about.

Fragrant Love

My Beloved,

If the Mediterranean waves, could carry me to your arms,
I'd wake up, to your whispers, enchanted by your charms.
If the Wafting Wind could breeze me to the your bed,
Our longing lips would kiss and hiss,In hungry emotions wed.
If this love i feel, could linger in your Heart,If we could live
our dulcet dreams, escape from fantasies, and never be apart.
If "I "could be with "You",and "You" could be with" Me"
We'd watch the the Stars at night twinkling tranquility,
Sparkling in secret splendor, shining Our blissful destiny.
If we could be together, till the day,"Forever",I'd hold on
to your hand,be your sufficient other, the dedicated lover
and even your bestfriend.I'd be your daily listener, your passion,
your romance,I'd love you to infinity, till the Universal ends.
If We could lie together on Gossamer mattressed lands,
on threaded silken sheets made by cobwebs' perfect hands,
If We could walk, laugh and embrace on gold warm Honeyed Sands.
If we could hear the sweetest sound of shells and pebbles play,
If I could call your name and hear your husky voice in answer
everday,If I could turn around to find you, looking my way,
If I could be with you,and live "the promise" of today,
Tomorrow I'd still be there,a Lavender in your grey.

Let the music play on

Let the music play on

My heart beats
and passion springs,
As my fingers vibrate
the subtle violin strings,

Soft notes float
in the air to enchant,
Cheeks bear a red glow
as palpitations enhance,

Anticipating a meet
with sweetheart there on,
Rhythmic waves I create,
Let the music play on !!

Music Take Me Back

When I'm blue and need something to make me smile
I can turn on my forty fives and listen for a while
Jimmy Gilmer sang about a Sugar Shack
Holding hands, walking down that railroad track
Then I let the music take me back.

Take me back to a time when love was new
Take me back to a time when skies were blue
When we could catch that falling star
Make love in the back seat of my car
Music, oh sweet music, take me back

Doo-wop memories touched my soul
Mixed with the early days of rock and roll
I close my eyes and through the haze
I see sunshine and better days
Music take me back to those times again.

There was Bandstand on TV in black and white
Radio on 'til you fell asleep at night
There were dances at the school
And swimming in the community pool
Music take me back, let me remember when.

Did we believe those days would forever last
Were things so much better in the past
I dream of days when a movie
Meant kissing in the balcony
Music take me back, let my heart roam.

It seems like a thousand years ago
We found true love and watched it grow
I know this is where my heart belongs
When I listen to those songs
Music take me back, please take me home.

Circle of Gold

A sweet deep voice resonates across the empty air landing affection
Caresses the chin forming shapes off ladybugs melodies glide and swirl
Guiding soul heart ablaze inside each melody note I hide love supreme
Released in cosmic fireworks in the air we share mystical pearl juice honey

Under the cascading gems of bright colors we lay gasping excited
Through the smoky mist fingers touch I feel a burning heart flowing wild
One with your electric current smoldering glazed with a little nibble
Enameled glowing gems embraced in the deepest slumber awakens you

Entering a world stone buildings either sides magically birds chirping
Whistling joyous tunes walking a cobbled path to one beautiful maiden
Who turns a handle on the music box enchanting sweetest songbirds air
As she opens her mouth out comes the voice of an angel calling enchants

Dancing in the heavens of ones mind these eyes are lead astray catching fuel
First glance a shooting star joining hands together electrifying crown
On parallel world we turn the handle as this sparkle begins floating
Inside space fuming embers of magic dust blew open crystal portal

Star spangling dewdrops deeply spinning blindly knocked off ones feet in one glance
Sharing our vision a bell strikes raindrops in midnight dreams glass slipper falls
Falling all over you lost in regal aura kissed in amazing grace
Spectrum apex walking up steps temple of sacrifice circling moon dog

Shall we Dance---Everlasting dance together

As he came...
Bent down towards me
He took me by the hand...
Led me out to the dance floor..
As the music played...
he held me close
his heart beating next to mine
warmth surounded us...
soft... melodies played
I said... I am scared
For I never done this before...
He said.. no worrys..
I am here... my dear
then he whispered into my ear
Singing melodies of lyrics of song
As the music played
We swayed to the music
as held me close unto him...
his strong arms held me tight
dancing on through the night..
gentle as he... guided me
across the dance floor...
Sweeetness music played
More Beautiful then ever before...
Precious moments...

Then I woke up...
Twas just a dream
of many dreams..
But then again
was it???

Tis be soon...
As time shall be...
When moment comes
I shall dance the dance..
as He guides me
Across the sky
Then between the stars...
To the other side..
Beyond... Glorious Love Eternity..
Sweeet Divine Precious moments..
Shall forever be...
Music Plays.. Melodies unto our King
Harmony of all souls
Whom belong to Him
Come... to Jesus
Lets Dance the Dance of Glorious Love Together...
Sweeetness of the Souls..

Hidden In The Stones

Imagine someone watching you
who wants you for his own
Imagine in the catacombs, a secret plan is honed
It echoes with a wounded heart
of someone so alone
He hides his shame behind a mask, that smolders, but is cold

Look beyond the chandelier that blinds you in the eye
Can't you see him lurking there, while waiting in disguise

If only you could see in him
           a face that isn't cold

Behind the mask he wears for you,
a man has lost his soul

Search beyond the mask he wears and look into his eyes
Be wary of the rendezvous that he will fantasize

If only he was more than just a phantom of your dreams
If only you could find in him a promise to believe

Don't be betrayed by what appears to be for you alone
But be afraid, a million tears are hidden in the stones

He'll tell you from the very start, to search beyond the scars
He'll hide from you that you are meant to be his secret star

Sing to him your aria….. But don't forsake your heart!
If you believe he'll set you free, he'll tear your dreams apart

Sing to him of love, Christine! Sing to the rafters high
The chandelier will shatter then, into a million cries!

If you plead to him of broken dreams, you'll need to tell him lies
Sing about another love, but be prepared to die!

Sing your song of love, Christine,
it is sorrow you have found

Sing to him your aria…….. then, slowly watch him drown

The music of our love

When we meet our hearts connect
as though we were cords on a violin
A shapely instrument of beauty and grace
When aged the sounds are clearer and more of value
Equally refined and spiritually aligned

We sing of life and commitment
And a trust that bonds
We stretch as the strings and bend to fit each other’s needs
We are linked in body and soul
We are music, we are whole

A Lover's entrée to March

How far can you fall and get back up
How high can you jump
And keep your feet in the sand

To touch grace and fall from within
Next to you I was out of my skin
I missed you yesterday and you leave tomorrow

A life spent in the shadows of lushly tint
Smoke your waves
Exhale the freshness of your menthol scent
Home is what you call shelters that need no defense

I’ll send
You’ll say goodbye
I’ll send again
You won’t reply

If love
Is the appreciation of another’s existence
Then goodbye
Is the anticipation of seeing you again

You and I, we’ll cruise the shores
Together we’ll settle with the wind
The joy of a small hut, a lovers den

You’ll send
I’ll wonder why
You’ll send again
I will not reply

The Sequel - Dance to Love - Part 2

I awake to the beautiful plaintive strains Of a violin - then realize it’s just in my head Just a dream - a shame to find I’m in the hospital - same room - same bed The monotonous ticking of the clock on the wall Time, an indefinite progress of my existence Time for my pills, time to call the nurse Time not on my side, breaking down my resistance After lunch a quick nap Then the visiting hour I dread most of all Seeing pity in their eyes, they wish me back To what I was before my withdrawal The world of music - my life - my love The fame and fortune that once was mine Exhilarating - Intoxicating, a wife at my side With children sharing the Glory Divine I lived it - I breathed it Plucked at its very soul The core of its existence in my hands Like a faithful servant it played its role I look at the painting on the wall A feeling of Déjà vu enters it seems I’ve seen this glade of lush green plants And these sparkling bubbling streams I remember drawing back watching afar An Angel who danced in its midst Who danced with wild abandon Her hair that the sun had kissed I remember wishing I could dance with her With this Angel from above A hundred birds would sing out loud To watch us Dance to Love But it’s just a painting - There’s no girl there And I’m just a sick old man Wallowing in my grief and sadness Existing however best I can What’s this I’m suddenly in the glade? A young strong man once more She has come for me, my Angel love I leap - I twirl - I soar The world I’ve left behind Unshackled my attachments of A hundred birds do sing out loud To watch us Dance to Love We dance with wild abandon We dance without a care With sun kissed skin our arms entwined Wild flowers in our hair
Footnote: We do not know for sure if my Father – who was a great violinist and classical musician, had imagined this story when he was a young man, when he chanced on a young girl dancing in the glade. It’s a story he told us many times and we loved to believe it. I like to imagine a fitting finale to the first story, when his time came and have pictured it in this poem.

Listen To Night's Music Play - For Becca

In my arms listen to night’s music play,
As we lie by a stream of love’s delight,
We wish the velvet dark night it could stay.

Now send all the cares of the day away,
Together we lie in silver moonlight,
In my arms listen to night’s music play.

Now in our peace our love we do display,
As our passions do come forth shining bright,
We wish the velvet dark night it could stay.

I hold you close and our love flows gently,
Your lips meet mine in the kiss of the night,
In my arms listen to night’s music play.

Your eyes they do shine with love perfectly,
I drown in the depths of their love tonight,
We wish the velvet dark night it could stay.

Come join me tonight in love’s sweet embrace,
In my arms listen to night’s music play,
Ever be with me with angelic grace,
We wish the velvet dark night it could stay.

Victim

I never wanted it to be this way, I never wanted to feel the pain. Bruises all over me.
Invisible but I can see them.

You hurt me everywhere. My heart is shattered and the blood has frozen. But I won't be
your victim.

Stare at me like this all you want. Try and hurt me with your words just as long as you
don't use fists.

I don't ever want to be your victim. I refuse to be one of those few girls who end up
losing their whole world.

Love isn't supposed to hurt, but maybe I was just naive because the moment I loved you my
heart never stopped bleeding.

I won't be your victim, I won't run away. If you have something to say I won't avoid it.
I'm not scared I can take whatever you try to throw.

Don't hold back I promise you I will not cry. The moon is shining just like all the
diamonds that you called pretend love I can't even imagine why I fell so hard.

It's never clear until the glass of water is gone. But now that you've gulped me to the
last I want you to know I won't be your victim.

I kissed vulnerability goodbye the very last time I cried over you and I won't be your
victim your not even worth it.

If you feel like you must shove a door in my butt but don't make me afraid because I
don't want to be I don't want to be your victim.

Let go of my hand so I can peacefully drive away if you want me to I can drive over you
as well. But don't make it seem like i'm causing you pain because it's obvious to see
that I've been a victim and it's a shame.

But I don't want to be it anymore then you so just let me go and I won't have to run. I
promised you forever I laugh at this now you were never eternity love in my mind.

I kept counting until the madness in ourselves would corrupt. Tears flash down my eyes
as I speed down the lanes. Two bottles of Gin and I think i'm going insane.

It wasn't until I crashed into a tree that I realized I was never your victim I was
merely your suicide mission.

Love me in Black and White

Love me in Black and White musical intro From the keys of your heart a melody rolled back the night illuminated the sky with its symphony of lights and fired new stars in the firmament, each a budding soul, a firework of colors spun within the black and white keys of your heart. lyric /song (0:30 / 2:18) If you find me If you love me I’ll open all the doors to that secret place where time and space lie all snuggled up in place into love’s embrace and eternity’s grace just love me (x) in black and white (x) and all the grey of my heart will soon disappear for your sea-foam brush will spray clots of colors in fertile soil just find me (x) and love me (x) black or white and a burst of moonbeam will unfurl its loving sails and my pain will drop right back into the sea of moonless dreams. back to musical intro (1:52)

Angels and Lyres:

Angels and lyres have me spellbound, Is this the garden of Eden that I've found? I find myself floating in a musical stream, Filled with nine angels weaving this dream. Their music filling me with such delight, This spectrum of colours as I take flight, Archangel above on white feathered wing, Playing his lyre that makes my heart sing. Taking turns in their mastery of melodies, Captured I am in an ecstatic warm breeze, I have fallen in love for the very first time, To the sound of love, I have tasted its wine. Forbid me not of this tantalizing lost song, For my heart doth ache for it so very long, Keep me forever in these clouds high above, And teach me the songs you play of love. Angels and lyres are nestled closer to me, Closer than I ever dreamt they could be, Please keep me here with you for all eternity, Angels and lyres are all I wish to forever see.

Love in my veins

Your love flows through my veins
like the Nile River flows through
the sands of Eygpt.
Love flows through my veins
like rivers that break off into endless streams
and water the gardens of the green stems
of torn covered rose bushes.

In my veins, you flow, as a sparrow
flies through the blue skies in beauty.
You are the blood that flows through my veins
and later settles deep in my heart
and embraces me with a hug of intimace.

Love flows through my veins
like endless notes played by the sweetest composer
along with his private orchestra playing a lovely melody.
Rivers, streams break off and flow into lakes and oceans,
Like my veins that lead to my heart,
you are always there flowing through my veins.
Your love flows through my veins.

Sweet Music

                                  He sits
                          Softly Humming
And seems to have no cares,
               Playing peacefully with his toys
                               For hours.

                                He sings
Words that seem to stem from his heart.
                 Words that have no meaning,
                         Yet sweet they be;
                                  To me.

Never Thought I'd Fall In Love (With My Best Friend)

(Chorus): Never thought I’d fall in love with my best friend
Sit on the phone and talk for hours about anything
He knew everything about me
He was there through my ups and downs
But I found out he fooled around
I’d never thought I’d fall in love with my best friend

(Verse 1): Its sad how things change
Seems like I want to put things back in reverse
Now that I see I feel my love life is a curse
So many times he say he’d stick by my side
There wasn’t anything I never had to hide
I never thought I’d find myself in love with you
Now what am I going to do

(Bridge): I go back and look at the relationship
you left me over someone you never met
tell me how did you fall in love over the internet
Why did you do this to me
Boy it cost so much stress
My heart is broken and I’m in so much mess
Never thought I’d fall in love with my best friend

(Chorus): Never thought I’d fall in love with my best friend
Sit on the phone and talk for hours about anything
He knew everything about me
He was there through my ups and downs
But I found out he fooled around
I’d never thought I’d fall in love with my best friend

(Verse 2-Rap): Its crazy how you say its not me, its you so please don’t take it the
wrong way
Then, I sit and I wonder how in the world you can say this to me
Now wondering, asking myself how can I make you stay
When you was leaving me for this other chick
Now you don’t even want to pick up the phone
Boy I know you at, I’m here all alone
So you sit there and ignore me baby
I thought I was supposed to be your one and only lady
Now I have to sit here and pretend like nothing ever happened
Tell me how am I supposed to deal with this boo
Im so in love with you
you left me for who?
The answer just hurt me so bad
Now we doing another sad love song
How are you to tell me who was wrong or right
These words I write are quite contrite
But since Im not the jealous type
I’ll let it fly
Its sad how you did me baby boy

A Blue Rose Sings

Upon a deep blue rose, a scented song,
so delicate of harmony and sweet;
a melody, whose strains of love replete
I mused upon. To whom could it belong?
To claim such ballad ought have felt so wrong,
but I could ne’er its memory delete;
each note an echo in my own heart’s beat,
alluring me to drift and sing along.

Though how I wish I’d never found the rose
whose music stirred a restlessness in me;
where love once blossomed only sorrow grows
from searching for a love that cannot be,
and timelessly a tear-blue river flows
through heartache’s vale to discontentment’s sea.

In The Repetition Of A Kiss

In The Repetition Of A Kiss

When I leave the house to follow traffic patterns
Tie and suitcase in my hand
Running through the door to find rush hour
I buy and sell gold bullion for a living
On the grand piano, the one my wife and I can’t play
I leave a hurried message
“My dear, I’ll be back soon.” “I love you so.”
“Please have the help clean the piano.”
“The one that you and I can’t play.”
“But if I make it rich, you and I can get some lessons.”
“We’ll play an Oratorio. Opera or an Anthem
Or perhaps a symphony or two one day.”
In between each number we will practice kissing
In the end, if we learn nothing, on this instrument
Our hearts and lips will follow every note in memory
In the repetition of a kiss

I leave you a kiss.

As always, I will miss you
In the repetition of a kiss

Prism

Each Friday recedes in burgundy
Bathed ardently in Luna’s kiss

                     But, Sunday will dawn cerulean
With dulcet tones of lovers’ bliss

Bearing flavors wantonly consumed
I greet each hue voraciously

I taste the spectrum more than I see
                    My senses piqued peculiarly

As kaleidoscopic concertos
Obscure my sight in grand array

                   Each blending shade completes the phrasing;
                   Brilliantly, prism love songs play

A Music Box and Memories

On a cobblestone street,
cracked and ill-repaired,
I rifle antique shops
  for a jeweled music box
     to cradle my empty locket.
I wish to drop it
     in a velvet corner
       one tear at a time.
If I find an heirloom
with a bittersweet story,
      its own tragic history,
my sorrow may lighten
within the confines of its space.

If I were rich, I would live
            curled up
on the satin lining of a music box
   coupled with my locket,
and with every tender lift of its lid,
I would rise in graceful dance.

My restless nights shall one day sleep
                               in rhythmic breath.
My flailing heart shall tether
                                      itself to heaven.

I found a music box today,
but alas, it would not play.
Without the song,
the story dies.
Perhaps, today’s fruitless search
will guide me to my hope, my treasure.

If I were rich, I would live
in a Viennese music box,
 a timeless ballerina twirling
          for you alone, my love.

At a local pub, I sit alone
                        in a corner
sipping seltzer and trying to ignore
your husky voice rising
from a half-empty glass.
Festive bubbles burst,
     sounding off before
               the tap tap tap
                     of the conductor's baton.

I close my eyes to find you laughing
as you sing and dance in the corners of my mind.

You are the part of me set free.
I am frozen in hushed memories.
I twirl my hair to distract me from all
the darkness I see, fingers determined
                                    to soothe my daydreams.
My spirit has weakened
 between
fake smiles and faded time.
I pry thoughts from a swirling head,
   quench my angst,
     ignore faces of strangers.
It’s easier to whitewash
the world in my despair,
than to see its colors.
I wear my grief like a turtleneck sweater.
I let it keep me warm when
        winter lingers to bullet
                     spring with sleet.

When did I fall into a dark corner?

I tripped on a crack
in the cobblestone today,
skinned my knee, looked up to see
you smiling down at me.

If I were rich, I'd fly to Vienna,
      live in a ballet slipper
        at Konzerthaus forever.

I hear your voice,
it's smashing glass,
    a cacophony of howls,
metal on metal,
    a melodic chaos
of heroics and blood.
It fills my corners.
I wonder -
did you scream
in your last moments or
slip beneath the drop cloth
you carefully lay
with less than a thud?
In a hush
   of onlookers, do-gooders,
did your eyes widen or fall?
If only
I could live in the corner
         of a jeweled music box,
a ballerina dancing for you,
the world might spin in a hush.
                      If only I were rich,
                            I would escape.

TANKA LOVE MUSIC

TANKA LOVE MUSIC

how familiar that tune –
the enchanting night
your warm embrace –
now i remember
claire de lune

piano - four hands
fur elise you’ve never heard
such cross-overs
our hands would touch
and we’d laugh

my love with child
not my own
yet some eternal source within
said, “i forgive”
transfigured night *
