David Bowie

This idol, this man holds a place in my heart.

He speaks of Ziggy Star Dust and Major Tom, so I don't know were to start.

He played as a king of a goblin land.

Watching and listening to him makes me crumble like sand.

David Bowie s melodies and performances are genuinely an art.

Do It Again

A life, years before, had begun,
Now … nearly over and done
   Down a lane
   Just to obtain
Life’s irrepressible lesson.

‘T is not what we have possessed
That left us so wonderfully blessed
   Nor was it beauty,
   Nor sense of duty
But how our life’s been assessed.

‘T was treatment of mankind and kin …
The love we expressed from within
   To those we met,
   And without regret
Would happily do it again.

Is causing me great perspiration

Inspiration In Life

Written by: Shannon Deane
Written: June 21st. 2011
Contest: Inspired

If you can find me, you'll know where I am
Face in a book, quiet as a lamb
Matter not where I sit down
If I look like a clown
Writing for self preservation I am

Waiting for my star to shine
For the world to know those words are mine
Two rainbows for luck
Praying I don't really suck
Sometime soon everything will turn out fine

I find inspiration in many ways
Writing till the end of my days
The stars will align
Revealing sublime
Masterpieces never only a phase

Wild Eyes

Through the most simple of things, such as a bed time or favorite music
I've defined myself - one who knows an answer, but will not use it
One who soars with a mind of chaos, with both feet remaining still
Walking and learning with the normal, with a mind completely ill.

When desks transformed into prison cells, wise words left unspoken
The label for my knowledge remained, a pale grey, yet unbroken
Defined by numbers I'd glued to my brain, while never knowing why
I'd been imprisoned in a classroom - my mind floating with the sky.

Soon scholars transformed to prisoners while bandits became the brains
Impossible dreams and visions lived, through those they called insane
My vision burned with eyes shut, as imagination fed the flame
From then perception altered greatly while my eyes remained the same.

A bed time - at first a rule to live by, now signals my dreaming
A simple song - once a background, now the heart of my breathing
One who used to shed tears over reality, I now smiled
Dreams distort the reality of one whose heart becomes wild.

Valentine Limerick for DW

Valentine Limerick- for DW

As I shared all my poetic emotions with you,
Change of inspiring avatar was a blunt in the blue,
Broken heart spurns to beat,
Misconstrues your intent of deceit,
To the flightless birds, can you bid adieu ??

Barefoot on the snow

The sun told me it will rise again;
And send its warmth to the glen,
But it can't soften the coldness in your soul!
So I will walk barefoot on the snow buried in your whole:
Leaving my traces on your heart's lane.

Drunken Mouse -Limerick:Monorhyme Combo-

He staggers and stumbles all around on the floor, his underwear I found he laughed hard, then fell down I'm speechless, not a sound mooned me, from beneath my wedding gown. Praise for Poetry Soup

You ask why I'm here on this site.
I'll tell of my harrowing plight.
		Just one year ago,
		my poor muse was slow,
so near death it gave me a fright.

I cried, "How much worse can things get?"
Then browsing one day on the Net,
		I found the great Soup.
		I'm back in the loop.
I've joined, and I have no regret.

I'm challenged by prompts to convey
my feelings and dreams every day.
		The Soupers inspire.
		I do so admire
this site. I have now found my way.

The Vice I Love

The Vice I Love

'Round three in the morning I wake
to see that it's time for my break.
I hardly can wait
to keep my sweet date -
I bounce out of bed and then take

my flashlight with me to the fridge
to bring Irish creme - just a smidge -
to my special place -
a real quiet space
where I and my date can abridge

the writes that I worked on that day
and so, with my muse and her stay,
with sips of our drink
we each share a wink
and fine-tune my poems right away.

An hour or so and we're done
I'm bleary, but still it was fun!
That sweet Irish creme
will help me to dream!
And now back to sleep, wait for sun.

So this is the vice that I love -
which I find it hard to rid of.
It works every time
to fix meter, rhyme -
me, Baileys and muse up above!

Faith --- Answer Me

I gaze at the approaching thunderstorm
and inhale the earthly scent of rainstorm
Her tears
as spears
is like a million blows on human fears

I ponder awhile beneath the lit-up sky
then words start rolling & a prayer is sent up high
I wish for peace
for all fighting to cease
and then the sky beckons with shades of cerise

I loose the heart and soul on mankind
it's easy to lose faith without God's sign
When lost
we toss
the beauty of his creation for lust and greed

Then I witness the miracles of life stories
coincidences that appear and save lives
His wisdom
for our kingdom
is unfathomable for our limited visions

If only we can soar with his visions
Like an eagle on a wind's rhythm!

A mirror response to Mystic Rose's poem below:

I watch the splendor of a shooting star
and breathe the beauty of a hum-guitar
Her light
in flight
is like a million lanterns on a cooling night

I dream awhile beneath the tarp of heaven
then close my eyes & slowly count to seven
I wish in true
for souls renew
and soon I’m covered in night’s dew

I loose the mind and pry his realm
it`s an expedience of God’s mystic dream
When free
I see
the beauty of his creation for all eternity

I watch the splendor of a bird in flight
and breathe the beauty of a blessed night
His wings
they sing
to me of freedom, and all a night can bring;

If only we can learn to sing
Like a Cardinal on a string!

A Poet Named Nina

I Once New A Poet Named Nina
She sat pondering about the days when she was a pretty ballerina
When asked about her name by a stranger wearing nothing but shorts
She turned around and told him it is Jeanina.

Kind Words to Each Soul

Eight reindeer lined up feeling gay
And ready to pull Santa’s sleigh
Rudolf’s nose so bright
He’ll lead thru the night
Leaving games for children to play.

I’ve reindeer antlers on my head
Decorations both green and red
Greet friends at the door
Good food and much more
Kind thoughts and greetings to be said.

Christmas passes, trees put away
But the spirit must always stay
Kind words to each soul
Let that be your goal
They’ll keep pain and sorrow at bay.
