Feeding the Ducklings

She is a princess sitting on her throne;
her subjects down below now make their way
towards waiting hands, for only them alone
she holds a prize she wants to give away.

They paddle towards her through the river flow
to the reward she holds for them to share,
for she is here most every day to throw
this sustenance to them with gentle care.

She is their princess, and to her, they look
with eyes intent on gifts within her hand.
So cute they are, like in a story book,
the ducklings come; they seem to understand.

The sun is bright and water ripples dance
as these sweet creatures visit her today.
There is an air of symbiotic trance...
they come, she feeds...all share a 'love buffet'.

Sense of Touch

That Bench He goes there every day; to that bench in the shade; Where his shoes have formed small clearings in the gravel; where his wool sport coat has rubbed smooth the paint. He goes there every day, to that bench in the shade where the squirrels eat straight from his hand as little birds frantically snatch up seeds he's sprinkled about. He goes there every day, to that bench in the shade but not today…and not again.

Little Bird

Little bird
Outside my window
Please go away.
You come here every day
To steal my thoughts and
Replace them with dreams of
I long to go
Up where you soar to
See what you see
From your Heavenly view
Nothing is lost
Or hidden from you.
You sing a song
Bright and sweet
But you are always
Who hears you?
Who is it for?
Must be for me,
I thought so.
Who sent you?
I think I know,
But she is far away
Lost to memory.
Oh, no.
Don't go.
Stay and tell me
What she said.
Does she miss me?
She does.
Tell her I miss her too.

An oldie, I dug up for tonight. When I wrote this, it had no meaning but now I'm not so sure.

Song Bird

If I were a song bird
I'd soar on feathered wing
to light upon your window sill
my song for you I'd sing.

Each note I'd fill with tenderness
as much as I employ
if you would let me sing for you
I'd fill your heart with joy.

If I were a song bird
to you I'd sing my story.
If it would fall on willing ears
my sad heart would know glory.

Each note infused with sweetness
I would sing with all my heart
the songs you have inspired
right from the very start.

Blue bird

Blue bird, blue bird
Come sing with me
Silence is killing me inside
I feel so lonely

Blue bird, blue bird
Be my friend
I'm all alone in this room
Nothing around me but an empty bed

Blue bird, blue bird
Can you feel my pain?
I can see it, there in your eyes
A little drop of rain

Blue bird, blue bird
I know you are sad inside
The moment you saw my tears
You gently bit my hand

Blue bird, blue bird
When you sang with me
You made me releif my pain
My thanks to you is to set you free

Today He Sang To Me

Each morning, for several years,
We’ve fed the squirrels and birds.
Oh, the fun we have watched
And the beautiful songs we've heard.
Families have started and grown.
Once two squirrels, now eight.
Cardinals, among many other birds,
Know feeding time….are never late.
Cardinals mate for life and prefer
A permanent nest to call their home.
And if food is readily available,
Even their young won’t roam.
So, now our trees are filled
With morning Cardinal song.
Our cats are old and fat.
All is good and life is long.
A bigger Cardinal, I call him Big Red,
Is first there every morning.
I think he’s the elder whose job it is
To sing out his ‘OKs’ or issue warnings.
He watches from the trees as I feed.
He used to hide, but no more.
He’s been coming closer lately,
I guess by now he thinks he knows the score.
This Spring morning was so ideal;
So, after feeding, it was coffee on the patio;
Watching all the critters nosh
As they come and go, come and go.
Quite suddenly, not even ten feet away,
The big Cardinal landed on the patio.
Surprised as could be, I was very still.
“Hey, Big Red.”, I said, sure that he would go.
He stood his ground, giving me the eye.
I could see his mate on the fence,
Watching so intently,
Probably wishing he would fly.
Slowly I lifted my cup in a toast.
“Cardinals rule.” I said quietly.
Then, something very special happened.
For a time, he sang....to me.
It made me very happy.

Standing out in a field alone, a little white flower named Daisy longed for someone to share her world.
One day a blue flower named Bachelor Button entered her world they became friends.
She knew by his name that he was not the propagating kind, but that didn’t stop their relationship she called him BB short for best bud.
The seasons of Spring & Summer they enjoyed the sun, laughed in the rain and held on fast in the Fall.
Winter came it was long and hard they were both covered in a blanket of snow, not knowing whether they would ever see each other again or even survive .The snow fell then came the ice, this went on for months.

The Sun shone brightly the first day of spring. A few days later warmth of the sun melted the snow, Daisy popped up .
I’ve been waiting days for you to come out, said BB, they both chanted hooray!
The snow was completely gone in a few days, the birds started building their nests , bugs were crawling around ,butterflies began to visit the two flowers. I wish there were more of us Daisy said, to BB.

They laughed as the sun and wind blew through their leaves. Then it started the sun and rain took turns until one morning the air & field was filled with the smell of flowers.
Daisy and BB looked at each other and asked what kind of flowers are these ? they’re not white like daisies they’re not blue like bachelor buttons. They did not know the birds and bugs carried the seeds from the two of them and the caterpillars buried them under the soil.
The seeds from the new flowers were then carried by the winds many miles away, they landed in fertilized gardens and flourished, although they faced danger everyday.
as they were called WEEDS ..
The Gardener pulls weeds out of the garden so they don’t choke the flowers, which cost a lot of money and require lots of maintenance.

However there was a Gardener who saw her friends spending hours weeding their garden , that they didn’t have enough time to admire and enjoy the labors of their love
So she set out to give a home to all the weeds ,she provided a place where they could fit in and multiply, they required no maintenance, rain provides their water .

The best part of all is their beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Ask my granddaughter-- What are those flowers in the garden ?
She will answer "WILDFLOWERS " their parents were Daisy and BB

Return Of Your King

Reflections of imperfections have shown me a way that I can move mountains through my power of faith even though I can't see him I know he is real through the power of prayer and a Love that I feel It's growing inside me like a flower in bloom shall I reveal my powers or is it too soon I am reading the signs through my darkness I find a reason for belief in the light of mankind that I know shall overcome the greatest of odds the Love I seek amazes me especially through the flaws because now I am inspired through the hero's that bring my throne through the darkness on which I return on as your King.

An Ellice Island - In search of KindRed Soul

Long miles of tedious journey,
Missing my darling honey.
Travelling impatiently, spend thousands of
Hope god will bless me with ma lucky soul
at this season.

Equatorial island exploring its amazed
beauty, glittering with immersed grasses.
Wrapped by queens necklaced small lake
aside, at the outskirts of dalhousie.
My heart dwelled into its god gifted
When the night lime lighted,
Millions of stars scattered around
charming moon.
As if its was a wondering boon.
Lucky enough for landing with my next

Eagerly waiting for my heart chaser,
Girl passed near by, few seconds later.
Flaming beauty mould my soul.
Topped with innocence, ready for my
auspicious goal.
Her chic appearance,
Her innocent appeal.
Strucking heart raised with high beats..
Awaited for our romantic date in ma
upcoming meet.

Frequency of our nature matched.
Stolen Eyes of each other were catched.
Strings of our heart whistled
Everything had happened miraclelously.
I rebelled the three precious words of
romantic dictionary.
Accepting my red rose, She blushed.

At event of recreation, campfire were
Nobody around us, private moments
between we two spotlighted.
Playing guitar, she sinked with every beat,
That's the coincidence our eyes again
Hand in hand danced with the soothing
romantic theme,
Sparkling smile on her face beamed.
Getting closer to her, because of her
fragranced cream.
Expecting the light around us to be dim.

The romantic moment again came,
Flaps of my soul opened for the grand
She looked too pretty in her gold lame
My heart awarded her an order of chivalry.
Don't know who are you, but baby you are
the one, I am in love.
You live in me, You are my love
I feel you in my heart,
You are my world, I just cant stay apart!

Please don't hesitate, please don't lie,
Whatever you feel, my heart can buy!
Angel of life, Its just you.
Completeness in life can't be without you.

Wanna Carry journey happily together.
Tickling nose, Queenly beauty of my white
Hold my senses, its caught by you.
Don't let be just memories, wanna feel
ecstasy of love towards you forever.
Promising to hold your hand throughout
life in this lovely weather.

Will be your shadow, because your pain
will be mine.
Its destiny that our heart clicked a
snapshot of each other's soul.
Stopping by my question, Will you marry
me, my Kindred Soul?

At the end of the elated visit
Around the mind moving marble mausoleum -Taj Mahal
I was unconvinced to leave and got a place to sit
As excited to enjoy the environment, withal

It was the inside on the right, near the main entrance
Just before the famous ‘visitors bench’
from where visitors pose, with faces full of romance
As a monumental memory, though the fire won’t quench

I was seated at a comfortable distance
To watch this mankind’s magnificent marble marvel
My mind churned the charm, inch by inch
With visitors from the entire globe, lining after a long travel

Of all colors, gathering was the crowd of tourist
With dressing styles that were, to this land, new
My emotions of excitement, I could not resist
Their expression of ecstatic too, none knew

Flocking was also the beeline of photographers
With the face of everyone, full of excitement
Earnestly everyone was immersed, as none bothers
None can forget in life, this joyful moment

Distracted my ‘dream-like-reality’ was an eagle
He was flying low, short rounds over the main dome
Over his unusual behavior, into me, I did giggle
He returned after two short rounds, as it was awesome

He now flied directly to the Finial – Islamic moon symbol atop
He sat over the Finial, as if he came to chat with me
A new relationship between us began to develop
I enormously enjoyed this ecstatic and wondered to watch the game

Joy or grief never lasts for longer
As he could not sit there comfortably
As the edges seems sharper and stronger
My friend was forced to fly away, inevitably

This play of this eagle, perhaps I only noticed
Perhaps only towards me, He sat to chat
Taj as universal ‘symbol of love’ is highly placed
The joy of watching the eagle too, a tantalizing treat!

Against the moonlit sky
alone upon the deck,
Afflack waddles among the boats,
searching for some food to peck.

He is a fine specimen of a duck,
exclusive to our marina.
He lost his partner years ago,
and pines for her for no good reason.

His lonesome quacks, his grunts and sighs
betray the sadness in his eyes.
I know he truly can remember
his own duck love, his mate forever.

So I make sure to come prepared
to give him food, he is not scared.
We've formed a friendship, he and I
he's welcomed here, he will not fly...away.

i love you too

looking for our place on the line of like or love
emotions soaring in the sky like a lost dove
the one lonely bird just trying to make its way
the little bird just needs one friend to make it stay
having this companion is more than enough
but one without the other, and life gets tough
two doves on the line of love, trying to get through
when all the one wanted to say, was i love you too

Tiny Hands Of Love

On tiny hands of innocence sweet
A baby bird sits perched to eat
                                    While tiny hands remain still
                                    The scene is so surreal
                                    Baby bird flies home
                                    Taking prints of
                                    Tiny hands

The Magical Dove

This Christmas I have something
That’s magical for you and me
I so want to share it with you
So open this box and you will see.

There’s two turtle doves inside
Now please place one in your hand
And I will take the other
To help you understand.

You keep one and so will I
And best friends we’ll always be
No matter how far you go away
Hold the dove and you’ll see me.

And if you’re lonely and in need
Just send it back to me
Alone you will not be for long
Because that’s where I will be.

So now you know the story
How they tenderly hold our love
I’m talking about the magic
Of the magical turtle dove!

Korean Commas

What am I to say to you dear sweet Jim
You have chased me away and now I am gone
But what about you broken by your promises
To me it's a sad old song, you've been gone for way to long
I doubt you knew, fondly whispered memories- same old song
For me there is and will be nothing left to do
You could never now complete the man I knew
The words were clear I was left in the shadows now with out you
Same old memories same old you I cried untill heavens turned blue
I am not ready for challenge I will not play the game
I am still hurt from the memories, hiding from the pain
Embarrassed becasue I am left standing here this way
Alone because of a man whose arms I have held so long
Caught burying worries and facing all the blame
But what about you, forgive yourself and start again
You'll be the same old guy to all of them

special friend of mine

A friend so sweet,
I'm lucky to have found.
So much laughter,
Whenever she is around.
Turning something so small,
Into such a fun thing.
Every-time we catch up,
We laugh, dance and sing.
The trouble we get into,
Just from our kids.
They tell us off,
I'm not telling fibs.
That doesn't stop us,
from having our time.
To have a drink and laugh,
With a special friend of mine.

Pretty Little Singing Bird

Pretty little singing bird
Pretty as can be!
Singing, the sweetest melody
Serenading me
Pretty little singing bird
You make my heart sing!
Pretty little singing bird
Will you be my friend?
With my love of writing
And your sweetest songs
We can make the world
A beautiful place
With our own personal, unique style
Pretty little singing bird
Don’t fly away!
Did I scare you?
Won’t you stay?
Be sure to tell your animal friends
To come visit me soon!
I love you
Pretty little singing bird
You are, my sweetest friend!

Ode to Larry the Bird

Bright yellow feathers,
Deep black eyes.

A voice that could carry
Through the winds of time.

A sweet little fellow,
My friend for years and years.

I just can't help
But to shed my tears.

Much to soon you left me
Here all alone.

You really helped
To make this house a home.

I knew you were in heaven
When I heard the Angels sing.

That screechy little voice
Was singing straight to me.

Please know that I love you
And I will not I forget.

The sweetest little friend,
I had for a pet.

My Longing Heart

I know that I
Have failed the Lord
And for that
I'm so ashamed
And only in my troubled times
Would I call upon his name

But God said
If you'll only speak to me
When trouble your way comes
Then you can rest assured my child
I'll surely send you some

I know I need
To spend more time
Down on my knees in prayer
For he said when
You call on me
I'll surely meet you there
Lord forgive me
Of my past
And the wrongful things I've done
I long so
Just to make things right
Between you and your son

For I know
That we're not promised
We will see The Morning Sun
And I don't want
To leave this world
Having left some things undone

Father make me worthy
To stand and tell the world
That I'm a god believer
And I believe His Word

He's coming in an hour
That we don't even know
And our souls will be
Required of us
O be ready friend to go

Eternity last forever
and 10 million years from now
my friend you will be somewhere
so why don't you humbly bow

To the God of heaven
he's waiting now on you
just ask Him for forgiveness
that's all you have to do

Then when it said and done
and he returns someday
he'll take you home to heaven
and there forever stay

Night Thoughts-

I ‘ve had the strange sensation,
thoughts swirling in my head,
Like “Where do fireflies go at dawn?”,
“Where do they go to bed?”

“What do owls dream about,”
,”while sleeping in their tree?”
“Do they dream about their night- flights,
“, and where the mice might be?”

“What fancies do the small bats see, “
“what memories do they keep?”
“I’d like to listen to their thoughts,”
“when they are fast asleep. “

Where might we all travel?
Which places would we be?
If we could know the night -one’s thoughts,
while dreaming in the tree.

He's of a bright yellow and auburn color,
and Autumn leaves match his feathers well;
what a gorgeous canary stands on my window-sill...
and I call him the friendliest, most talented warbler!

Next door, there are heartless and crazy boys who harm birds
by using slings and stones to bring them down,
and then watch them die by inflicting more pain;
that's so cruel, don't ever do it to another canary, rascals!

Kids, don't kill my bird...he's a useful animal
with the biggest heart in the Fauna's kingdom,
if he ever died, I would be confined to dreary boredom!
Let him live, so that I can continue living through the Fall!

He comes to visit me hardly flipping his wings so fragile,
and he surprises me sometimes, while I play at the piano so carried away
by the notes that himself sings for me in a triad chord so simple;
would you want to hear him sing that melody...are you listening to me?

Birds are put in cages, if they were wild animals like lions and tigers,
but they are the beautiful and gentle creatures of the Wild and they run from hunters,
not from bird-watchers...and you say,"They aren't intelligent or wise!"
Watch them in their habitat: you'll learn to adore them, and love them for life!

Kids, don't kill my bird...he has caring parents like those in a loving family,
I rescued him from a forest's trap...his legs were caught and they bled;
I took him home and gave him first aid, and he miraculously survived!
Did God send this bird to me...to test me how compassionate I would be?

The Accusation

My friend ,
You have accused me
Of stealing the color from a butterfly
Of your town.
I tore out of some garden, you say,
A sapling of gulmohar
And planted it
In a desolate and barren cemetery.
Just as the coral tree
Has bitter roots,
So, in my heart,
Lies sin!
I am degenerate, immoral,
You have judged me to be vile!
I am well aquainted with pain and have deliberately
Made it my power.
I am a bird of prey and do not care
For the friendship of little birds.
My colors are false,
I am a dishonest dyer!
The inky serpent of fame
Lies around my neck
And strikes, with my songs,
Little heart-baskets!

My pain, like Ashwathaama’s
Is never-ending!
You remind me that my body-room
Will disintegrate soon enough.
In exchange for fragrant songs
I trade in wombs.
I am, you write
A very adolescent trader.

You say that a shadow
Is a child of light.
It is not the duty of a shadow
To separate.
The duty of a shadow is
Devotion to light.
In light, to always be ahead,
And to extinguish itself in light.

Even a bird can fly away
If is miserable in its cage.
But each day
I catch and discard new birds.
The reason I do this, you say, is that I covet just one thing,
The sorrow in my soul.
Because every song I sing,
Is a song of sorrow.

You also write
About one butterfly.
The butterfly who spent a short time
In my garden,
The butterfly with a weakness for,
Silver flowers,
The butterflywho desired,
Golden stars.

Her face was sweet,
Like the moon in a desert.
My songs
Were very dear to her.
You considered me
A son of Saraswati,
Today your opinion about me
Is altered!

At the end you have written
That I ought to be ashamed of myself!
That I should drown myself
In a tub of acid!
I should take my sick self -
Along with my songs -
And leave the environs
Of your town today!
Society has no need
Of my worthless sorrows!
I should be fighting for
The rights of workers!
I ought to disperse the color
Of my beloved
To the grain in the fields.
I ought to take the sorrow of the world,
And set it, like a jewel, in a ring of songs!

Bear and the Mocking Bird

Should I? Could I? Would I? The teenage bear was getting nowhere, fast.
He wanted that big salmon that had come up the falls, almost to his grasp.
But the current appeared too swift, for even a bear as strong as him.
Still, that salmon’s presence mocked him; he was dinner on the fin.
So as the bear lumbered out, a mocking bird suddenly began to mock…
“You’re going over the falls in one more step. Stop! Think! Think! Stop!”
“Didn’t your momma ever teach you even one simple little thing?”
Now, he had left home because his Momma had always told him what to do.
So he turned to the bird and growled… “Why should I listen to you?”
The bird mocked back… “Because you don’t stop and think things thru.”
Then, at that point the bear slipped, and almost went over the falls, it’s true!
He heard the bird mock, “Stop! Think! Think! Stop! Listen, you lumbering brute!”
Angrily and begrudgingly, he admitted the bird was right: a plan was due.
So with a branch he sent the salmon down to the bottom of the falls below.
Then, later with dinner replete, it was now time for dessert to bestow.
So he decided to visit the berry farmer and plunder most of his crop.
Again the mocking bird hollered at him. “Stop! Think! Think! Stop!”
“The farmer has a dog and gun! If you destroy his summers’ crop…”
“A bearskin rug will be your fate. So Stop! Think! Think! Stop!”
After 3 or 4 more times at mocking… The bear finally gave in…
For each time he had mocked him… He had also saved his life, again…
Since he had left momma behind, he now realized that he had done nothing right.
And though they were both rough, tough, loners: they still became strangely tight.
So in the end, they became fast friends, with each one helping the other out…

The moral to my story is: there’s a friend that can understand anyone, even you.
Friends don’t have to be beautiful or popular to be true and help you thru.
They are all very precious and none should be thrown away.
For you’ll need all their understanding to help: see you on your way.

Dear Seth

Dear Seth,
Still one more year to go because
you let things get to your head.
I know you’re trying to overcome this,
but this negativity I cannot bed.

And all the kings horses
And all the kings men
Couldn’t put your head
Back together again

If roses are red
And violets are blue
Exactly how sweet is the
Sugar I gave to you?

Dear Seth,
Things are getting rough again.
Time is going by so slow and
I’m only receiving more sad news.
It seems you’re clipping your own wings.
Your freedom you have sold.

But if Adam and Eve were meant to be
Why do I feel like Eve and you the snake?
You have fed me your poison, which
I am no longer tempted to take

If that mocking bird don’t sing
Then I’ll know I can’t change a thing
Hush baby now don’t you cry
Everything should be alright

Dear Seth,
The days are dragging by, but it
seems there is no reason for this.
There is no support left to hold.
Not even when I think how much of you I love and miss.

And all the kings horses
And all the kings men
Can never put my heart
Back together again

If roses are red
And violets are blue
Why has this sugar
Turned as bitter as you?

Dear Seth,
The day you are released from
these bars will never come.
You will always be trapped inside
for it seems now, two is lonelier than one.

But if Adam and Eve were meant to be,
With me Eve, why did you choose to be the snake?
You keep drinking the poison you find,
And the poison that you make

Not once have I heard that mocking bird sing
I know now what I did, didn’t change a thing
Hush now, don’t be so loud when you cry
Everything was supposed to be alright

A friend indeed

Little fairy Fern
She had a broken wing
She couldn't fly up in the sky
Down came the swallow Steve

They were the very best of friends
They grew up in Utopia together
These two they were thick as thiefs
Where you saw one you saw the other

The morning of her accident
She had an important meeting
But the sky grew dark, the rain fell down
The raindrops sent her spinning

She tried to fight the water weight
It was to heavy to bear
She fell from the skies above
Leaving her broken in the middle of nowhere

Steve the swallow was intuative
He always felt her pain
So he put on his coat
Soon he was on his way

He found her by the old Burch tree
Hanging onto a limb
Frightened as she was
She climbed up on top of him

Soon they were off in flight
To take her where she needed to be
Fairy Fern kissed her friend upon his beak
For his gesture was so sweet

He knew that she needed to heal
Her fragile broken wing
He would be there until that day
His wings would now be hers

On wings of whisper seagulls rise
Like an unhurried, gracious fleet
Which sails upon a sea of sighs
And takes my dreams away with it.

The clouds and waves anoint the sky
With drops of myrrh and hues of blue
Whose colors blend and tower high,
While masts glide free and out of view.

How soft and languid is the roll
Of vessels tethered to the pier!
I wonder if they hear the call
Of friends afar and fellows near.

They roll with jealousy and grief
While many others, far away,
Might float over a glowing reef
Or laze upon a peaceful bay.

But here, where seagulls roam above,
The sad and silent fellows weep
For fear their unrequited love
May die forgotten in the deep.

Raven by the Graves

I believe in the protector of the dead.
I see her every time I am there.
When I'm sitting by your grave,
thinking about the good times and bad.

She sits on top of your headstone,
as the most beautiful bird ever known.
Her dark feathers shines in the moonlight,
her eyes dark as coal.
She stares into my eyes when she near,
giving me a message very clear.

"Oh, my dear Raven...
You have taken upon yourself to do this,
to protect the ones that are gone.
I love how you are close
so now we know they're never alone.

I truly love you as a friend,
and I hope you're here in the end.
My dear Raven, understand
you are always in my head."

You have to understand that this is forever.
She knows what to do because she is clever.
No, She will never leave.
You would just have to believe.
She made this as her duty
Cause she feels right where she belongs.

Feeding The Ducklings

My quaint little cottage
rests by a cool serene aqua
with rights reserved only
for my prettiest rosy bloom.

Her two little feet walk down-
wobbling like a penguin-
on the rain brushed green turf
to halt by the edge
of the soft rippling water.

She gurgles aloud
clapping her little hands
with bells on her wrists
for us to follow her trail.

Her echo I guess
is heard by the distant
mother duck busy flapping
for her ducklings to follow.

They stately glide
in a small neat file
under the chaste clouds
to meet their prattling mate.

The weeny webbed feet wobble
to my yakkity cherub
rompering around them
in her powder pink polkas.

Undisturbed comfort
runs in my veins as in unison
they peck at the grain
and bread I brought for each.

My heart melts to see the tranquility
between the twinned bird and babe
as they nibble in the summery spring
while I sit beside the balmy Jackson Lake.
