Bright Beautiful Red

Big ripe Mcintosh apples found lying on the ground
Release sweet juiciness when their finders take a bite.
Ibises of scarlet stand elsewhere in the world without a sound
Gathered underneath a crimson sky awaiting night.
Hovering near bushes bursting ever rosily
Twin monarchs flutter; cardinals sit on a red-flamed tree.

Barns decorate the countryside always painted so
Easily to view in their typical bright red hue.
A patch of strawberries grows in summer row by row by row.
Utter deliciousness resides in raspberries grown there too.
Tempting are the garden's tomatoes, more treats colored red!
Inside an orchard, carrying a pail which holds small fruit
From a cherry tree, treads a freckled lad, hair like fire on his head.
Underneath a canopy of leaves, robin redbreast sings a tribute,
Lifting notes mellifluously in praise of nature’s grace.

Robust as chili peppers' flavor; radiant as a ruby gem,
Everywhere we see the passion in this color we embrace.
Delightful and dynamic too is this color most worthy of a poem!

I prefer to be called Jan … only my mum calls me Janet
Makes me feel like a naughty child and I am never naughty!

Just started writing poetry last year
Aims to try and make you smile
Now I have the writing bug and I never want to stop

All I want to do is learn about writing
Loving my new found creativity
Life experiences recently have made me stronger
I don’t try to pretend to be anything I’m not
Self-confidence is at an all time high
Only those very close to me know what makes me tick
Now is my time to shine

The meaning of ‘Janet’ in Hebrew is Gift from God
So who am I to argue with that endorsement!!!!

What's In A Name

Certavi et Vici: I have fought and conquered

C irca one millennium of history, written in a name,
E ncapsulating moments of a fierce and gruesome game;
R espect was ne’er commanded but given all the same
T o warriors who, for country, had a constant burning flame.
A hand each of justice, faith and sincerity came,
V ictorious over those, who oppressed and tried to claim
I ridescent waters and beauteous wooded lands, in shame.
E loquent mermaid is a symbol of our diplomatic aim,
T o guide our strength towards peace and magnanimous fame.

V eracity, a venerated virtue, and fortitude when lame,
I  ndomitable spirit that persecution cannot tame;
C hevron of protection under our tutelage; I exclaim
I have fought and conquered, and the proof is in my name.

~His Name Is Wonderful~

Earned his name~
Suffered all the pain~
Under the hands of men~
Settled with hate against him~

Compassionately he forgave them still~
He loved us then and he always will~
Rising he gave us the right to survive~
Intoxicating he is to all of our lives~
Supplying our each and every need~
Thank you father, For blessing me~

Our king above kings~
Understanding he brings~
Radiant he is indeed~

Living for Christ is the greatest thing~
Only in him may you rest in peace~
Remember each day to trust and forgive~
Divided from him is no way to live~

He Called His Name

Paradise to the old man was a humble garden,
A peaceful sanctuary for rest and meditation,
Reminiscing and counting his blessings.
An angel found him there and softly called his name,
Delivered a message, with a tender smile, and
Invitingly he held out his hand; he followed.
Standing by the door, the Lord greeted him with open arms:
Enter, your long journey has come to an end; welcome home!

To those who believe in an after life ...enjoy the inspiration.
To those who do not ........................enjoy the narration.

Beautiful Lady

You may find in this life if you’re not too shady
Someone who is precious, like my beautiful lady
The person whose name at the end will be written
The one who will know by this verse that I’m smitten

The words that I write come straight from my heart
About a beautiful lady whom I hope won’t depart
A verse of what each individual letter means to me
A verse that will show just how wonderful is she

B is for beguiling, that look of love in her eyes
E is for emotion, for her love that gives me the highs
A is for adorable, her captivating charm
U is for unabashed, the love which cannot harm
T is for tenderness, witnessed in her every touch
I is for intensity, in our love making theres is so much
F is for faithful, of which I have never a doubt
U is for unembellished, without make up, her beauty still shines out
L is for loving, and treating me like gold
Please read on for there is more I must unfold

L is for lingering, her kisses long and full of passion
A is for absolutely, given love with no short ration
D is for dress, she wears her clothes with such great style
Y is for yearning, for me just to see her smile

At last you say you’ve reached the end now please shout
Whose this beautiful lady that you are writing about
I would tell you her name but she is so shy
Yet still the most beautiful lady underneath the sky

What's In Your Name

Sensationally super, and Sagittarius son of John Spence
Pleasantly personable, and matriarch Maud Spence’s son
Enabling, exquisite, eloquent, evolving and enterprising
Naturally nice, no nonsense, and a nutritionist nobleman
Carrot consumer, constant comrade and cold-war veteran
Equitably enlightened, and just an elegant eggnog taster
Jumping Jupiter, a jubilant sundae lover, and just a jewel!

Comments: During my twenty plus years of military service I was always called
Spence, J. That's just the way the government does business. This acrostic is
about Spence, J. It's crafted on a combination of alliteration, assonance and
consonance sounding words. Eggnog at Christmas is my favorite. Having a
Sunday afternoon sundae at the ice cream parlor is oh so tasty. Wow! I just love
it!!! Anyway, here are some comments on writing an acrostic. The basic acrostic
poem is formed by writing a word vertically down the page, which may also be
the topic of the poem. It’s recommended to use one letter per line, and the
beginning letters should be all capital ones. Each line of the poem should begin
with the letter on that line and the line should pertain to the word or title being
used. Some may recommend using one word or a phrase which does not have
to rhyme; however, one may move beyond the basic acrostic form and use a
complete thought with a rhyming sequence. It’s also recommended to use
adjectives and phrases that describe the word or subject of the acrostic. Finally,
one may take the quantum leap and write a double acrostic where the first and
last letters of each line are the same.

In the Name of the Pope

Vanguard in death and deception,
Innocent hearts heed to his illusion.
Cry Mama Africa, cry for your children.
Angels with dark countenances are raised against them.
Rise black man, awake from your slumber,
Inactivate the medium that is deceiving you.
Understand, no! over stand the number:
Six, six, six is the number of a man.

From the west they came, with bibles and guns,
Igniting a fire, a burning desire to be like them.
Lost in the labyrinths of prayer, summoning gnomes and goblins;
In persuasion we fly with angels and jinns,
Incarcerated in spins of sins.

Dark is our external shades, but our heart is as red as blood.
Ethiopian blood stained the suit of the woman we dearly loved.
Is the black child a sacrifice to god, their god?

Can anyone or should they say anything about loves effect.
Only one issue I feel is important, that they are both adults.
Undeniably love knows no bounds, or even any sect.
Granted in the bible, they chose younger women with respect.
Age is just a factor, when it comes to loves depth of realism.
Reason, whether be older men or women, having no schism.

Each day that passes unhappiness rages, in relationships of close age.
Forever love is in the heart and soul; it really has no classic cage.
Forever love is even rarer these days, than ever before.
Every soul has a soul mate, this I do believe with Heavens score.
Craving the closeness and touching of spirits bound, with true tenderness.
Taking to name this the cougar effect, is lending thoughts that are lecherous.

What My Name Means To the World

I am human,
aware of imperfection,
even through different races,
their misunderstanding and affections.
My name means bravery,
to stand against fears,
to hide my tears,
to fight off my misery.
My name means to understand,
we all look different,
but we all live in the same world,
the same as our human hands.
My name means to live,
travel in the earth's air,
nothing can compare,
to my freedom will.
Life is unfair and that's fine,
Life is hard, but it's mine,
my mind is my domain,
I may look different, but my beliefs will stay the same,
even in my own grave,
you all will remember my name.
