Hell-bent stallion muscles led the mustangs through the plain,
On their heels rode hard a hired man –his job to rope the best--
Rearing high the stallion—urging speed as autumn winds dance thru his mane.
Sheets of lighting limned silhouettes as they pounded toward the west--
Enchanted now the man reined in—this day let beauty rule his breast.

Intriguing species of course
Calm demenaor, no force
Exciting to ride
Long mane, eyes hide
Never causes strife
I love their face
Costly to buy (but will try)
Home is volcanic rock
Origins Europe, don't knock
Ride gentle on oldsters like me
Steady gait you should see
Experience riding one if you can

I bet on a horse and it won
50 quid is not a huge sum
So I bet again and still won
But 100 quid is still a small sum
So I bet again and guess what?
Yes, I won
But 300 quid is still not a big sum
So you know what I did? Yes u do
I bet again and yes I won
But 500 quid is not a big sum,
So I decided to go to the zoo
to buy a gorilla who had flu
I got him cheap, but he was big,
bigger then my 500 sum
I bet he could swim, jump, play
polo and clean out a sump
He did all this with much glee, but I
am still not rich you see
My poorly gorilla costs me a lot, the
vets are an expensive lot
So my 500 quids are no more, and
my gorilla looks sad even more.
So I sold my pet to my vet, cus he
wanted him as a pet
Now I have 500 to bet, and yes on a
horse. I bet
My horse was called gorilla in the
Gosh what a fantastic twist.
Surely my horse should win this
race, and yes he did, at a casual gait.
Now I have 1000 quid to my name,
so back to the zoo, for some other
I brought a giraffe, with my stake,
he had a long neck and he smelled
But my story ends here as my Dr
Come on he said to me, what have
written on your pad?
Wow said my Dr that’s just great,
now time for your medication date!

Through the days of blistering toil.
A murmur of spirit after a blissful
trial. These were the emotions on this
endless day.Minutes later in single
file, were prints from hoofs in the
muddy soil.While easing toward
drudgery and withdrawal.The amazing
thoroughbreds entered their stall.
Jockeys clambered onto their colts.
As they were trained superbly, for
the oncoming derby.While over the
loudspeaker the narrator spoke.
Calling out numbers for only who was
there.Consider a victory and the
triple crown.Ready to gain-gain an
inch of ground.Thoroughbred racing
was the name of the game.Where
hesitating was nothing, and no
one to blame.Where multitudes of
spectators impatiently waited, for the
master racers to open the gate.A
photograph finish ended the race.
Beaten by a length-a length out of
pace.Was the thoroughbred racer
in second place..

Strawberry blonde hair blown wild by the breeze
Trailing behind as her mount she did tease
Rousing his vigour as they came to the high hedge
All the way over and still they had the edge
Will her triumph be held right up to the end
By and by we will know the answer my friend
Everyone watching and urging them on
Run boy run, is the theme of their song
Rising again to jump the very last fence
You should have heard the crowd as they winced
But though the log rattled it never quite fell
Long were the sighs as the pair did so well
Onto the finish line for a rousing cheer
Now it's all over, some will sup beer
Down at the stables much later that day
Ellie groomed her steed in the proudest of ways...

"take a ride with me"
take a ride with me
along a clear open field
know the wonder of what you see
energize the heart the soul
and know the all of me
round the saddle round the reins
in a moment your heart I will win
embedded in your soul I will live
while by my side
I won't let you fall
though I will take the lead
here's toasting to you and me
moments to savor
emotions to feel

Sits on top of a horse's back
All worn out it has a little crack
Did a lot of work in its younger days
Dirty and old it's not worth a good pay
Locked up now in a storage shelf
End of time for his good ole self
