You Were My Sunshine

You were my sunshine, my only sunshine. Thoughts of you filled every moment of my day, but you no longer are my sunshine ever since the day you passed away. Many times dear as I lay sleeping I dream of holding you once again in my arms caressing your face ever so gently surrendering to the sweetness of your charms. Hopefully once again you'll be my sunshine when my worthless life here is overdue, but for now I no longer have sunshine. It doesn't shine on me anymore without you.

'You are my Sunshine', Jimmie Davis' hit from the '40's, is my all time favorite. It's a great 'our song' for any happy couple, or sad nostalgia for any lost love. I like that you made good use of it.

I was only familiar with that classic popular tune John. I wasn't however familiar with your provided information. Who was it by? When was it a hit? I hadn't any knowledge of either one I must admit.
