Yesterday's Poem Today

I read the poem yesterday And then again today It seems each time I read it It has something else to say. I wonder how it happens When the words are all the same Perhaps because on rising My perceptions aren’t the same. Could be that what the poet wrote And what this reader read Will change as it flows slowly Through whatever’s in my head. John G. Lawless ©10/10/2022

Wow! Exactly what happens every time we read a 'real' piece of poetry. A FAVE for me, John. Thanks, gw

Very insightful, John. It is so true that reading a poem a second time or the next day can make all the difference in its meaning for you.

You're quite right in acknowledging that a poem can be read, and reread, each time recognizing some facet that was earlier missed. Good writing, John.

I blame it all on Robert Frost and the line that forever haunts me ..."I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference." Thanks for stopping by
