Yesterday
Yesterday I wore my heart on my sleeve
Today it is sheltered and hidden away,
Yesterday I had your hand in mine
Today the sands of time are seeping through mine,
Yesterday your fingers fit perfectly in mine
Today my fingers are clasp in a fist,
Yesterday your smile could melt my icy resolve
Today my resolve is frozen in time
Yesterday I cared,
Yesterday I loved,
Today I am learning the lesson
Of nothing ventured and nothing gained
Your embrace is all I long for today…
