World of Pretend
Do you remember as a child,
your make-believe world of pretend?
Where you could be whatever, tame or wild.
A special place only you would comprehend.
You could go to wonderful, faraway places.
Without ever leaving your room.
Under the bed were many secret spaces.
That were transformed in light or gloom.
The closet was a place of wonder.
It contained so many mysterious things.
Shelves and drawers that you could crawl under.
Creating a trap door with cardboard and string.
Finding a cast off piece of lace curtain.
Over and around you it would swirl.
You were beautiful, of that you were certain.
As you stood on your bed to twirl.
Any place to be was your playground.
Where made up stories came true.
And anything, became a treasure found.
This world of riches, belonged only to you.
