Only Words To Say

"As long as you both shall live". Words I have heard before. A lifetime of love to give. No matter, rich or poor. They were only words to say. Filling the silence with sound. If there was meaning, it faded away. Love was lost, and never found. We held on for so many years. One weak, while the other strong. We would laugh, but cry sad tears. Our love so right, was wrong. Almost a lifetime was spent, pretending we had it all. Love came, and sadly love went. What we had built, was to fall. A vow was made, neither heard. What else to do, but walk away? Questions left unanswered. There were no words left to say.

as a new poet I fear I may not ever get so talented as so many I see on here, but I will not give up. As I read your writings I believe them. You sure have a wonderful way with words. Sad but a Great read !

Surrounded by so much talent can be unnerving. I struggle also, but still writing, as I love to do. You comment is very generous, and very much appreciated. Thank you, Virginia Read your poems to see talent.

This is certainly a powerful poem, describing what can happen and I could feel this deeply straight through reading it. Very well done Sandy!

Sadly, this happens in many marriages, Sandra. Indeed, it's as if the "vows" weren't taken seriously, though we never know what lies ahead. A powerful, emotional write and a fave for me. Hugs, Carolyn
