Author's Notes: I composed this second piece (i.e., a companion poem to "Can't Make It Without You Baby") while giving it the same due consideration to the passionate and surprising effect brought on by that little chubby, winged infant named "Cupid," who in world of mythology is known as the God of Love. In Roman mythology he was named "Amor," and in Greek mythology he was called "Eros." Regardless, everyone or nearly everyone has, at one time or another, felt that amorous sensation of one of Cupid's arrows hitting home when they meet the person they end up falling in love with. That, after all, is one very important aspect of life which can make a person's life both interesting and worthwhile -- as long as that person is the right one. Without your love my darling—
It’s
me against the world,
me against the world,
me against the world.
And when I first met you my love,
at first glance I was smitten
and could never lose sight of you.
Without us together my love—
It’s
me against the world,
me against the world,
me against the world.
And when I think of you my darling,
I can smell your scent and see your smile,
and dream, dream, dream all the while
of being in your loving arms again.
And so
Without your love my darling—
It’s
me against the world,
me against the world,
me against the world.
A lonely man so desperate for your love.
