Will the World Forgive Me

Will the world forgive me As I watch through stolen breeze Forests burned to ashes Mother Earth upon her knees Do I deserve these tears As I drive my selfish car Ice caps slowly melting Future never seemed so far.... Will the world forgive me... For my insanity.... Tell me Will the world forgive me... For my insanity.... Who'm I really kidding As I watch the sky turn black Plastic poisoned oceans Such beauty under attack Can the world forgive me As I sit here wise and free Naked in ignorance Building another city.... Will the world forgive me... For my insanity.... Tell me Will the world forgive me... For my insanity.... This is insanity I dream of the fires that burn Ozone holes acid rain We read books but never learn What prayer for tomorrow As I'm lowered into soil Waste of a humanity Mother Earth's blood left to boil... Will the world forgive me... For my insanity.... Tell me Will the world forgive me... For my insanity.... Jane Shields (C)
