Why Not Leap Off

Here is my disclaimer. This was written for a contest, it in no way reflects my mood or personality. The object was to write a "rhyming dark" poem which I thought would be hilarious to do. My husband is looking for my straight jacket now.
I cannot let go of the dismal life that no longer serves me well
It is pulling me past the earth’s plain into the bowels of hell.
The promise of a life others have, perfected and sound
Has never stopped at my door when it’s being passed around.
I ride the merry-go-round of my dull, disgusting life.
I will never have the happily ever after. All I have is strife.
Why not leap off? Change the course, go a different direction?
Because this is my destiny, in this staid world of non-loving affection.
I know that I do not deserve any better, so here I am determined to stay.
Riding the ugliest carousel horse, the chipped one who is morose and gray.
I cannot let go of the dismal life that no longer serves me well.
It is my introduction to the next phase of my life, which is the way to hell.
