Whistle
I learned to whistle when I was very young
It was difficult integrating my lips and tongue
I never became good at making the smooth sounds
But I cannot forget the sheer thrill and joy I had found
It's a beautiful way to communicate in another language
Not the best whistling sound but I felt rather accomplished
It is an art form that can be utilized for so many reasons
It's a music form to be exercised at any time or season
Whistle while you walk
Whistle before you talk
Whistle while you work
Whistle while you hurt
Whistle when you are happy
Whistle also when snappy
Whistle when you have no say
Whistle all through the day,
When there's plenty of light
Whistle in the middle of the night,
When everything is really really dark
Whistle when the sun is high and bright
Whistle when life has you really low and tight
Whistle when you have bread but there's no gravy
Whistle when the heart is cloudy, grey, and heavy
Whistle when you cry to help dry away the tears
Whistle to keep you brave as you cast away your fears
