Where was Venus yesterday

Crick-crack shoulder blades
Locking as the tension rises
Precious passion spits and fades
beneath the ash of compromises
Where was Venus yesterday?
Pruning roses? Plumping cushions?
Where was Venus yesterday
when romance slipped away?

Slingshot flings the words
Razor wire that bursts my sparkle
Cage shattered, sirens heard
Siege engines outside my castle
Where was Venus yesterday?
Did she have a cut and blow dry?
Where was Venus yesterday
when knives came out to play?

Absence eats my rage
Fire and indignation beggared
Morning reeks of sickly beige
and looks like eyes that scan a desert
Where was Venus yesterday?
Did she go out salsa dancing?
Where was Venus yesterday
when silence came to stay?

Ah, yes, Venus is not anywhere in sight. You may have to use your fabulous imagination and create a new, improved, robotic, well-tuned Venus of your own making.

Annoying Mars of course. She's known for it...

You are SO poetic, Nina. How I wish I coud come up with so many clever images in just one poem like you did here.
