When The Pieces Decide
By Robert (Bob) Moore (c) 2016
The knight took 2 steps forward, and then one to the side
he had the bishop in his sights, there was nowhere to hide
the queen was watching, with her king, she saw the threat now made
but a counter attack was waiting, and the bishop was the trade
To flee or make the sacrifice, the bishop would choose the way
to take the pawn on K4, or to give earthly care away
he did not want to leave the board, stand watching from the cold
so he took the pawn on K4, he was never very bold.
The Queen she was not happy, her plans had all been made
but it depended on the Bishop, and on the Bishop trade
now she would need to think again, and see what they would do
be patient and wait for the slip, that would let her forces through.
Waiting for a movement from the other side
the clock is slowly ticking, the pieces stand with pride
which one leads the next attack, from rank, or from the file
The Rook, the Bishop. Knight or pawn, and cause the Queen to smile.
