When I Was Young
When I was young long time ago
wished to soar in limitless sky,
edge of effort I didn’t know,
I had promise to keep and try.
Committed to climb lofty peak
when I was young long time ago,
attain success and make fame quick
before senility could grow.
Wanted to be in limelight glow,
took expectation to great height,
when I was young long time ago
I pledged to acquire what I might.
Promises I couldn’t fulfill
Yet I let life happily flow,
a cascading stream down the hill
when I was young long time ago.
