When I awoke the world had shifted The sun had switched to dim The moon hid behind gloom and humble stars When I awoke When I awoke Sounds lost their theme A concerto arduous to hear Screaching in deafened ears So mute, inaudible In timid ears When I awoke When I awoke Mobility was futile Something to learn afresh With strange newness And impossibilities For modest limbs When I awoke When I awoke The world was strange My lips were sealed My thoughts reclaimed Without rebuttal My gracious self This harrowing life When I awoke *** February 3, 2017

Every awakening is a rarefied moment, as you so deft display here. Also, the use of repetition works very well in this poem. JH

Thank you John, I am glad you say the repetition works. It was done deliberately to accentuate prolonged pause after every stanza.
