When I awoke
the world had shifted
The sun had switched to dim
The moon hid behind gloom
and humble stars
When I awoke
When I awoke
Sounds lost their theme
A concerto arduous to hear
Screaching in deafened ears
So mute, inaudible
In timid ears
When I awoke
When I awoke
Mobility was futile
Something to learn afresh
With strange newness
And impossibilities
For modest limbs
When I awoke
When I awoke
The world was strange
My lips were sealed
My thoughts reclaimed
Without rebuttal
My gracious self
This harrowing life
When I awoke
