When Heaven Glows

When heaven glows I see the sight as twinkling stars light up the night where in the dark the demons lurk awaiting time to do their work and every babe has curled up tight. In youth no thoughts of pain alight while mother’s arms soothe children’s fright and moonlit shadows go berserk when heaven glows. When will we stop our children’s plight and end their pain and set things right no more our duty shall we shirk as children squalor in the murk with warm caress we’ll hug them tight when heaven glows. 10/18/2017

Sorry for the late reply Sandra. As a parent, I look back and constantly second guess decisions I have made with my own two girls and wonder what I could have done to lesson or prevent the mistakes and pain that they have endured.

Beautiful rondeau, Jam, it hurts when little ones are affected by our actions, especially in wars and broken families and abuse, well written, congratulations:)

Very interesting piece here James - not really what I expected when clicking on the title. I am pleasantly surprised, and especially fascinated with the first stanza. I also really like the line, "as children squalor in the murk".. still that glow is there from above to give hope and to drive the evils of this world mad. Always, Laura

Yes, the title would lead you to believe it would be a cute poem. I do write cute on occasion but it's really not me, nor is social commentary but this one just seemed to come out as I was writing. Thanks Laura.
