When Did It End, and Why

Remember the thrill? The electricity that coursed through your veins when the tips of your fingers touched? When did it end, and why? Remember when fireworks lit up your mind, as eyes shut tight, your mouths hesitated, then found each other lips locked in passion's explosion? Why did it end, and when? Remember your love hovering constantly over you. Your having to suppress a smile from overspreading your face just picturing that person? When did it end, and why? Remember when there was nowhere else you wanted to be but by one another's side? When you didn't walk anywhere, but you would glide? Why did it end, and when? And now that it's gone Will it return, and when?

It is my theory, that this is why some people keep '"trading partners," because they want those feelings.

That 'trading partners' theory of yours should be worth at least a Master's Thesis in Sociology or Psychology at one of our wacko left-wing universities. (Please let me be clear: I think your theory holds a lot of water... It's just that today's universities would take it way too seriously and turn it into more left-wing dogma.). :) gw

A great lament of love's ending and the hope for it to return. I've asked the same myself before.

Perhaps we've all lamented love's ending. That's why I wrote this. Thanks for the feedback, Jeanne! :) gw

I have been with my bride for 26 years and am still enjoying the fireworks. When we choose to see our partners we realize they are in a constant state of change. Some sadly stop noticing the beauty before them.

Very happy for you, and a bit 'jealous' as well. Most people I know don't experience the fireworks for anywhere near 26 years. Here's to fireworks forever for you and your bride, Richard! :) gw

Honeymoon magic then you settle into a lovely marriage and build memories. Perhaps its so we can enjoy the magic of others as well and not just linger on our own...who knows!

Perhaps it's that 'settling into' that's the culprit. I guess I prefer the electricity and the magic. While I was always reliable, perhaps I just wasn't wired for a conventional marriage. Who knows?! :) gw
