What the Eye Sees the Heart Cannot Forget
Deep within the forest dark
Where moonlight cast an eerie glow
Fear soon finds its tender mark
As a pounding heart awaits its woe
In the distance, an owl asks "who"
The answer lost somewhere in the woods
But its eyes and ears are attuned to prey
Where a beast unseen lies in wait
Surreal the scene the owl now sees
As he makes his silent flight
A woman dressed in ghostly white
Holds a dove, despair its plight
Is she the sacrificial lamb?
The virgin gift to the dragon?
Her heart is filled with dread and fear
She knows the end is near
She releases the dove to the unseen beast
But the owl does not miss a beat
He hears the flapping of wings
As he pursues the snow white dove
Soon, crimson feathers fall into the trees
And the woman's scream echoes through the night
