What I'Ve Been Given
As the snow melts slow
In the sunlight’s sparkling glow
I recall when everything disappeared
Consumed by all I feared
So sudden, you were gone away
No time for what I had to say
Loving words hanging on my tongue
The next song would have been sung
That year, it was a cold winter
With all the pain that did splinter
My heart into pieces broken
Only words at a grave spoken
These memories never do fade
Lingering in shadows of shade
Although, I know you are in the light
That shines upon me day and night
What we had stays in a treasure chest
To hold onto the very best
What I’ve been given cannot be lost
Through every winter that begins with frost
