Welcoming
Along the wooded road I walk
Each step into the future
I hear a noise in the trees
It's an owl hooting mid-day
I have only heard them at night
But this owl has something to say
Maybe spring isn't soon enough
With the piercing, cold wind I feel
Maybe, it is just reminding me
Spring is waiting for me soon
Some bark is missing on trees this year
Unlike the seasons in the past
As the world changes around us too
Missing things we hope to last
But I know this wooded road well
It has built memories with my steps
It's another place I will never forget
The 'constant' created by my return
Now welcomed by the hoot of am owl
