Walls Around Me
A OPEN HEART, FREE AND UNTOUCHED
HE CALLED ME NAMES IT HURT SO MUCH
I PLACED A STONE ALONG THE SIDE
TO SHIELD MYSELF I RUN AND HIDE
I THREW THAT STONE FOR HOPE OF CHANGE
THIS TIME FINDING I WASN'T TO BLAME
BRICKS THIS TIME IT WILL SURELY HOLD
MY HEART TUCKED TIGHT IN A TINY MOLD
A WALL NOW THERE SO STRONG AND TALL
PUSHING AWAY THE WRECKING BALL
A BATTLEFIELD WITH WRECKAGE AND DEBRIS
BEHIND THIS WALL THAT'S ALL YOU'LL SEE
NO GREEN PASTURES OR BRIGHT FLOWERS
FOR I FEEL SAFE TO HOLD THAT POWER
ALONE I'LL STAND TO HOLD THIS BLAME
THIS IS MY LIFE , THIS IS MY PAIN
