Wake-Up Call

An intermittent sound Alerted my inner ear Spurring me into wakefulness As my name formed crystal clear Theresa, Theresa, Theresa. Repeatedly in tune Urging my reaction One morning in early June I awoke to hear chirruping So insistent in bird refrain Guarding it's perch dutifully To arouse me was it's aim My curtains threaded sunlight Heralding life anew Another day thus realised As away my messenger flew.
