Veterans Day

This day is to remember our men in uniform that gave, The ultimate sacrifice, their lives, for those they could save. Men from everywhere, brought together for good and right. To stand face to face with the enemy, expected to fight. How did these men find the courage to walk into war? Some may not have known what they were fighting for. They did what their country asked them to do. They were committed to see their daunting task through. The pride of being an American, defending their belief. Fighting for the freedom of others, to bring denied relief. Today, a different attitude prevails, that no one need answer the call. If no one had answered, would there be a United States of America at all?

Gosh, you make a good point at the end of this compelling verse, Sandra. It seems that quite a few soldiers lost sight of what they were fighting for in the Vietnam War. Then in the first Persian Gulf War, reserve units were activated and my 60-year-old supervisor had to serve. Now we have a volunteer army, so I'm hoping they do know why they are sent into battle. This is an awesome and timely write! Hugs, Carolyn

So true Sandra.. But I think there is a big difference when we fight wars for no cause. The Iraq and Vietnam wars for example..

Thank you Joseph for reading and commenting. War is a difficult subject to discuss. But our veterans are not.
