Valentine Schmalentine
I listen to my radio and hear
the ads persuading guys to buy their girls
nice jewelry to bring them heady cheer –
like fine-cut diamonds, sapphire rings or pearls.
Some guys are even more extravagant.
Perhaps their woman gets a costly gown,
gets taken to a classy restaurant
or anywhere she wants around the town.
I think most guys dislike to spend their cash
on Cupid’s day of love, but it’s not hard
to buy some lovely roses or just dash
off to a store for chocolates and a card.
For gals like me – Valentine Schmalentine,
I end up in a fast food restaurant line!
