I didn't mean it ... You were everything, didn't you know?? Didn't I show you in a thousand little ways? (At least as many sizable ones) ... But I can't take it back, not now ... not ever I remember standing on this spot - the very same Our first kiss ... your hair lit by carnival lights The gibbous moon cutting wave-tops to shards Us, barefoot in the sand under the pier I dreamed so many things in that moment, wondrous But never this ... never such horror Blue police lights spinning ... Dancing on the pilings like phantom faces Gulls cackling as they pull you from the seaweed Eyes reflecting the moon ... But not ... life.
